The chat is very slow since he types slow, but it seems likely to be a no.
What do you guys think of offering CFC our next great person for a lengthy NAP extension?

If UCiv is turned off by their other diplomatic options, they may be willing to help us, so long as we can repay them quickly. What is their espionage situation? Would stealing techs be viable for them? Would it be possible to settle a junky iceball city to their north to enhance the cost effectiveness (by shortening distance cost and lessening the chance of their spy being captured en route) of allowing them to shadow our tech progression through espionage steals?
Lots of questions here. Theoretically, this sounds like an efficient way for them to make gains, but I don't know the specifics of the situation for their team.

That seems a paltry alternative if I'm CFC, rather than taking a coordinated shot at the #1 team when #1 is technologically behind. If CFC has cannons, which we cannot easily counter, and our other front is fighting rifles, which we can only expensively counter, they will not likely have a better opportunity in this entire game to take us down a peg. I don't think there is much that we could offer CFC short of a massive military gift and carte blanche to conquer WPC, but even that wouldn't help CFC as much as attacking us, probably. The logistics of the awkward border they would have is part of the problem, but WPC's cities aren't well developed. CFC makes more progress by trying to take cities from us under the current situation. Even if they don't take anything, they'll suffer much less than us in the 3v1.
If they take the prize and give us peace for so little, they've lost interest in the game.

It smacks of desperation, and might embolden our enemies.

In the meantime, I want to propose a draft to UCiv:
Draft to UCiv Wrote:Yuufo,
I was just about to follow-up with you, nice timing .
Of course we are very happy to work with you - to us this is great news. I have an idea of how we could do that, if you are interested. The last idea we suggested about Communism tech will not work. We are being threatened by neighbors, so we are abandoning that and headed straight for drafted rifles. However, would you be willing to fund us towards Rifling with gold if we paid you back with interest? We just need to get there as quickly as possible, and we'd be happy to pay you back significant interest. Whatever you can spare, we'll pay it back to you and 30% extra. How does that sound?
Maybe we can chat sometime today? That might be an easier way to talk.
Thanks,
scooter - Team RB
I want opinions on that 30% number. Put yourself in their shoes and tell me if that would sound good or not good enough if you were them. To me, I don't think the cost matters here to us, and I don't want them to feel low-balled.

Meh. I see it as a counter to their city suggestion. Yossarian said they want something that will even us out economically. He said they would probably want that border city, which we both acknowledged won't happen. To me, a great person is a reasonable counter to that. I would just present it that way. "Hey I've been brainstorming on an alternative to the city swap you wanted... how about a gift of our next great person?"

My bad. I forgot that an upcoming 3v1 dogpile means they might quake in their boots still

I am not sure what the right answer is, but is it possible to invite them to chat by just saying: "to brainstrom ideas"? This email still sounds like we are desperate. Everytime, they offered to join us, all we did was ask for more money...May be they are looking for some thing back in return for joining us...
Interest wise, I think we can pay pay as high as needed...
