WW26 Lurker Thread

Doctor Saul fascinates me. I've also been wondering if there has somehow been a switch. It would be amazing if the wolves had some 'possession' ability. Could Easy Sarah have sacrificed *herself* to somehow take over Saul's account and infect him with scumminess? That would be one of the greatest werewolf abilities ever, although it raises all sorts of balance questions.

However it happened, I think Saul's been bodysnatched. If not, then he is definitely scum and is just trolling now, delighted with how much he's wrecked the village.

I'm loving this new crazy theory. It accounts for the three deaths on Night 1: Agnes kills Old Tom or Simple Anne by misfired vig shot, then Easy Sarah decides to sacrifice herself to possess Saul after being totally called out by Simple Anne night 1. She might have figured that she was going to be lynched otherwise.

The actual switch looks like it happened at Saul's post #594/595, or maybe #571, which I think is mid-Day 2. Delayed action possession?

I guess maybe Saul just asked to be replaced. But if he was taken over by a ghost Sarah, then it might mean the the village hasn't actually managed to kill a single wolf yet. Hah!

Or maybe Saul just forgot how to spell...

Okay, this is going to be a monster of a post, but otherwise I never respond to stuff I mean to so here you go. smile

This was actually intentional, I decided like a day before that I'd try and impersonate him.
It lasted maybe 1 day, because I simply cannot post like that when I'm trying to persuade, and it brings back bad memories.

Identity ramblings:

I think, in general, I've posted very differently from the Qgqqqqqq stereotype, but tbh after faking Bigger early D1 I wasn't trying to change my style at all - this is just how I post these days. I'm kinda ashamed of my early games of Werewolf just because my posting was SO BAD. I mean seriously, I hope no-one ever reads WW18 again...
Anyway, I'm curious if anyone guessed who I was - I think it would've required a lot skill because while I could see all the things I do all the time (Id, Will, etc.) I don't think how I post is particularly distinctive these days.

Like I said in-thread, I kinda avoided thinking about peoples identities.
I mean, I saw the obvious ones (LE=MJW, Fat Rose=Serdoa etc.) and had vague ideas about a few more (Saul=?=Lewwyn, Bert the Bard=?=Novice, KNJ=?=Zakalwe) but didn't really think about them much, just impressions or "genres" in my mind.

This big time.
I didn't have ages to dwell on the thread, as can be seen by my generally brief posting, and I found it a problem for quite a while trying to discern between characters, and it really hurt my posting - paticularly because I'm not much of a quoter, more of a post on impressions (or quote immediate reactions)+follow up through posts examination. I don't think I'd do a game like this again, or if I did, maybe 15ish players.

Bert/Zakalwe
Friar Andrew/Mattimeo
Rob the Filch/Uberfish...Lewwyn...Uberfish...Lewwyn. The vision is clouded.
Muriel the Slow/Serdoa
Agnes/Novice
Dr Saul/Pocketbeetle

Percival is not Jowy. Jowy would not play the same way twice.

It is our utmost hope that Azza has wildly changed his style and is one of the top posters.

It is our utmost delight that Brick included another duel.

Oh my. yikes
Now that is a compliment!

(July 30th, 2013, 16:23)Commodore Wrote: Muriel isn't so much obviously a wolf as plausibly a wolf, and a massive headache...everyone wants her dead, so they want her to be lynched.

I believed rather strongly that she was a wolf, and still believe this was justified (you are spoiled, so remember that it effects judgement in curious ways - it may have looked obvi-stupid to you, but its easy to think that when spoiled, remember WW15). I still think that her actions and posts were very anti-town.
Yeah, I wanted her dead no matter what. But I don't play this game for my amusement, I also have an obligation to the other players, and given that, there's no way I'd vote her without thinking she was a wolf. I believe we would be in a much stronger position if she was lynched D1/2.

(July 30th, 2013, 18:39)The Observer Effect Wrote: Even with Muriel's latest round of cussing, I think the tone of the game has picked up dramatically since Brick's intervention. I presume people PMed you asking to continue the game, Brick? In any case, since being reprimanded they've played much better. Also the seer game has added to the lurker interest. I'd say this game is becoming a success!

Unfortunately, I don't view this game as a success frown
This is simply a personal thing, despite my early interest and enthusiasm the whole Muriel thing and the conflict that arose around it just made this game unpleasant and meant I lost interest somewhere around D2, and it became more of a chore then anything else. Unlike previous games I did actually have time to respond to stuff sometimes, but I just didn't have the energy to deal with some of the divisive personalities.
I hope a reprimand occurred for some of the behavior in-thread, but I don't know anything really.

(July 31st, 2013, 17:25)Muriel The Slow Wrote: Spoilers on Muriel and comments on the setup:

Whoa, no-one guessed who I was or what I was doing! yikes

Well. It's 100% RP. lol It looks like other players had the same idea, like Old Tom and Sir Percival. A setup that just hides our names won't do much in a small community like this, it wouldn't take longer than a few days to figure out who everyone is based on their post style and gameplay, just like you guys have done here. That would undermine the whole setup of the game. So I decided to roleplay whatever character I would get.. And I got Muriel! Well, I had to make Brick change the avatar because the original one I thought was a retarded woman, and I think roleplaying a retarded character crosses the line and would be offensive. I know I wouldn't feel good about it myself. Also it was a picture of a real life person, which wasn't very cool. Anyway, I thought what kind of a person this new "Muriel the Slow" would be, this woman with a beautiful name and sweet and innocent looks *cough*. Well.. you know the results. Self-righteous, demeaning, always gets her way, the world revolves around her, no fun allowed.. but when she does get her way, and everything goes according to plan, she'll be happy and you'll be happy that she's happy! Sadly it wasn't *quite* 100% RP, I broke character a few times, mainly being a bit too cheery on some of my short posts. It was especially hard trying to play a game that Muriel would play, instead of playing a game I would play. I tried my best to win in the context that I am Muriel and this is how I have to act. All that bad logic though? That was no RP, just me being a horribad player. It was a blast!

When the break happened, I was afraid that my RP had offended people. I sent a PM to Brick asking about this and I was ready to drop the act, but he said that no-one was offended by my RP. I hope this is still the case when the game ends! Anyway I think the setup was a cool idea, but it's kind of hard to actually play out. To really stay anonymous, everyone would have to be in character, but then there's the problem that the gameplay might become too reliant on luck when people are limited by their characters. Also I doubt we'd find many people who are actually willing to commit to roleplaying the entire game. So, interesting idea, hard to execute!

Oh, and I'm still not letting you know who I am. Someone will guess eventually. I'm actually surprised that no-one has guessed it. I feared that my identity would be really transparent when I had to drop the fancy writing style from the beginning. It just took too long to make posts like that. Someone actually called me out on that on Day 1, which was a good catch! Just wasn't correct because this is a Masquerade game, not a normal game :P

...
I'm glad someone enjoyed your posts bang rolleye
I am simply astonished that it was purposeful. shakehead

Edith/Will/Agnes all commence the Muriel bashing to justify the miss-lynch.
Saul/Percival/Harry were more regretful and pondering, which is more in line with how I expect villagers to react after lynching a village power role at a critical point in the game.

Seriously, AGAIN with this???
Could someone knock some sense into just how much lynching a Double-Voter matters...you lynch who you think is wolf/3rd faction, not who has a rather weak power role.
For what its worth, I agree(/agreed) with Harry that you were not to blame for the situation and that the village has played poorly (simply couldn't be bothered posting it...) but your play has been a large part in that.

Not gonna comment on kills (wink) but I don't think Sarah was caught out by Anne N1.
This was the Anne that everyone was thinking about policy lynching remember.

And possession is a mechanic that's way too bastard for BRick IMO.

What is so unique about my style? (Besides homonym errors, bitiching about the metagame, occasionally trolling/flaming and liking to just dump my vote on someone...) mischief

I'm asking this so people don't know my real identity in future games like this. I really didn't try here...

Because I really think this game is over...post game thoughts.

The village was hampered by lurkers getting lynched.

Muriel hampered the village. It was a big village tell to me that she was eager to clear me. However, in the end her posts roleplaying an angry and aggersive character cost the village. Ever to me her posts sounded insincere.

Me dualing John was the last nail in the coffin. I should have learned from when I shot Tasunke that villagers say/do stupid things. John's posts seem to imply that had no chance of living. So I "vigged" him. But that was not truthful because he was a watcher. He could have watched some clear every night. This would force the wolfs to kill him, risk getting scryed or even night-kill him.

Thanks Bert smile
I really don't know Lady Elizabeth, but that first post just screamed you somehow. Its something to do with the way you phrase things I'm pretty sure, as well as the interesting jumps of logic.

As to post game, I think Muriels involvement really clouded the way for scumhunting, as did the clearcut nature of lynches 3-4, making everyone feel a bit lazy. I also think the setup also damaged the village, as meta arguments are actually a good tool for catching scum (wink) and because people (or at least mesmile) found it harder to get involved in the game as they don't distinguish between people/don't feel a connection to the weird behaviour (like people were still metaing about skill, and could use it as a defence).

I get the feeling that Fat Rose is scum now , but then I always do this at endgame so who knows

I really liked my role BTW, and I wonder how others would've worked it smile
