scooter needs positive reinforcement. he's sensitive.

I realize you're just trolling right now and not being completely serious, but this isn't about positive reinforcement. It's about trying to make this at least slightly resemble a democracy game, and it's about reducing the amount of hindsight second-guessing by having that type of discussion ahead of time instead of afterwards. If people approve an action, it reduces the ability to second-guess it.

hey, I responded to your CivFr post immediately, as I have been to your drafts all game.

the sensitive remark might have been trollish, but I was sincere about the positive reinforcement - you do need feedback to do your role properrly.

Fair enough, so 'partially trolling' not 'just trolling' is probably more accurate. wink

Anyway, we're making something of nothing here. I suggest we give this thread a rest until we have something new to discuss. Which will probably be pretty soon, hopefully we'll hear back confirmation from UCiv very soon.

That was a part of the agreement, right? Not saying that we should cancel the NAP due to this, but let's at least cancel the resource deals we have with CFC. Not much point in giving them free stuff when they aren't keeping with their side of the deal (I'm assuming here that OB is part of the NAP agreement with CFC and that they closed their borders with us - ignore if that's not the case, i'm not entirely sure on both accounts).

Yep, Open Borders are a part of the agreement, so we are locked into them until T175. No, they did not close borders, and I have no reason at all to expect they'll do so. If hypothetically they were to do so, sure that's a violation of our deal and we can deal with that accordingly, but it won't happen.

duh

I thought Noble said in the stream that they cancelled OB. My bad.

I'd like to second that comment on seeing if we have any French speakers. I know our original position was not to use that route with foreign teams as it may have come across as patronizing, but considering CivFr's complete lack of communication what do we really have to lose by trying at this point?

I guess I'm thirding the French proposal. We could send both French and English. Even if it is bad French, we should send it to maximize the chances of getting some sort of response.

I think we already decided some time ago that sending messages in both French and English could be taken as a slight by CivFr in that we don't have a lot of faith in their English. The communications we received so far don't seem to indicate that there is a language barrier to worry about.

If anything, ask them if they prefer messages in French first.

I would like to second (or third) the comment about razing any lightly defended border cities on T170 / T175. That is real gold that we can put towards our rifle run. The cost of a few knights is worth it.

Someone also mentioned that our western friends might wait until T175 so all of our friends attack at the same time. I don't think we should let them have their own way - we could declare on them T170 and get them reacting to us instead of the other way around.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

There's definitely no language barrier, they just don't like doing diplo and/or don't have time for it. Their English skills are perfectly fine. That aside, I don't think we've had anyone claim to speak reasonably good French at all.

Yep, I'm all in for this. Anything we can set up for - I'm all in favor.
