Hm. CP just did 9 2-pop whips. I would have expected them to either be saving the pop for musket drafts after gunpowder, or cur whips after military tradition. Maybe they just noticed they need a bunch of cats.

I bet CP is planning to steal gunpowder from us. There's no other reason for them to do music before gunpowder. Are they dumping tons of EP on us still? I wonder if we could sneak in a counterespionage mission before they do that.

I still think civplayers is coming in with HAs and Knights. To me the whips and drafts say T170 attack or very closely thereafter. Cuirs are just a longer term play if the war continues.

That or they're using Poly's refund gold to do an upgrade. Knights to Cuirs aren't that expensive.

@Zargon, didn't they blow thier load on Nationalism? I thought they were out of EPs for missions.

I'm assuming they did blow most or all of their EP on us on nationalism, but frankly, I'd be surprised if they aren't dumping more into us as we speak, or saving up the gold to do so. They want gunpowder, we have gunpowder, and it's cheaper for them to steal it from us than to research it unless we run a counterespionage mission against them.

Now, maybe we can't have the spy in position and the EP ready for that in time, especially since our first one already got caught. Maybe we decide it's just not a worthy use of EP to throw a wrench in CP's plans. But it seems like a relevant question to ask.

Well they have to get gunpowder, switch to nationalism, and draft up an army. This doesn't fit the T170 timeframe. We might get hit by knights but there won't be muskets and a slow moving stack with no tech advantage is not scary at all. Let them steal gunpowder and draft a musket army by the time we have rifles.

Definitely knight whips, at least most of them. The following cities are in the 90-122 hammer range:

Texcoco, Tlaxcala, Xochicalco, Tlacopan, Atzcapotzalco, Tzintzuntzen, Malinalco, Tamuin

Tenochtitlan is at 140 hammers, and Tlatelolco at 78. Of interest is that their Heroic Epic city (Calixtlahuaca) is at 0 invested hammers, so they're probably one-turning stuff like crazy there. Also, remember that CivPlayers have plenty of stables, so their knights will be highly promoted.

Checked in-game, and can confirm the following CivPlayers cities being whipped:

Tenochtitlan (capital): 20->18 (to 140H, does Bureau bonus apply to whips?)
Texcoco: 6->4
Tlaxcala 6->4
Xochicalco: 9->7 (National Epic city!)
Tlacopan: 5->3
Atzcapotzalco: 4->2
Tzintzuntzen: 5->3
Malinalco: 4->2
Tamuin: 4->2

They had circa 103-105 pop when the turn started, and now they've whipped away close to one-sixth of that. Granted, they are relying on their ridiculous bureaucadamyniversity capital for research, but still...

BTW, CivPlayers has been going mad for infra. Tenochtitlan has the following buildings and religions: Christian, Buddhist, Confucian, Oracle, Hagia Sophia, Apostolic Palace, Palace, Oxford, academy, university, library, granary, market, forge, sacrifical altar, buddhist temple, buddhist monastery, confucian monastery, christian monastery, barracks, walls, castle

Yes, the hammer bonus from bureaucracy applies to whips.
I have to run.

I find it entertaining that with all that, they don't have stables.

I think we can safely banish any dreams that CP might not be coming for us after all. If that's not them pushing all their chips to the middle of the table, I don't know what is. They're at least as committed as Poly is, now.
