Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

(August 8th, 2013, 17:04)Zargon Wrote: It's hard to say. It might help, because if we just say "we're interpreting it to mean 171", they might tell us to back up and they don't accept that unilateral interpretation.

If we say "we're interpreting at to mean 171 because we're taking your lies as god's honest truth", they might feel obligated/shamed into accepting our interpretationt.

Ok, I can see it both ways. I personally think we're banking on their original deferment to our interpretation, and the snark makes them less likely to be accommodating. But if we think they'll be shamed by their lies the alternative works too.

iPhone post.

What are you guys talking about? We settled tbis with them like a month ago.

Could we not follow up and when (if) the DOW us on T170 claim that as a NAP violation and tarnish their (good) name to all the other players?
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

We did? I sifted through the diplo thread and didn't see where we got back to the regarding the 170/171 thing.

Though I do note that it's implied that we're expecting them to invade us on turn 170, so we might not have any wriggle room regardless.

Got a follow-up chat from OT4E:

You are trying to catch me on lie, yeah. But I am just chatting to you, didnt mean to promise anything. We are small team and dont have special person to entertain you with fantazies and lies. Despite of that one our member has nickname "liar" smile I also dont have time for this.

When I share my thoughts with you I am being honest. I answer your questions if I feel it possible and correct thing to do.

But dont you agree that asking me which unit is going where and when is not completely appropriate?

To be honest, believe me or not, we dont have clear view of what can happen at turn 170 or later. So I am trying to improvise when talking to you.

Yes, if you are going to leave cities empty we keep our right to take them. Is that what you wanted to hear from me? But this is what not having NAP means, sorry.
about other things I will reply tomorrow

Whatever

I think we should raze the German tundra cities and let WPC replant them, too wink
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

Now I want to invade them again

Okay, a few things:

1) Yeah, I definitely remember chatting with neighbors, and the NAPs were interpreted as "standard" - meaning war could be declared on T170. Honestly, I'm not even sure we want to delay it by a turn. I'd rather have them move in and get the big fight over with.

2) Suggested draft to WPC - just a general poke on the things we discussed last time:

Draft to WPC Wrote:Tatu/Beta,

Hey just checking in - any update on the proposed multi-team espionage deal? How about resources?

Thanks,

3) Now here's the big one. I think that, depending on if OT4E sends us something interesting tomorrow (he said he would reply on "other things" tomorrow), I think we should send this email to both CivPlayers and Apolyton.

Draft to Apolyton/CivPlayers Wrote:Apolyton and CivPlayers,

I'm sending this to both of your teams since it has been clear for awhile that you are working closely together. I understand the position you guys are in. You don't want to commit to peace with us, but you don't want to leave us alone to tech peacefully. That's completely fair. However, I think you guys are smart enough to know that a full war with us will just be a stalemate. I'm just going to be 100% honest with you guys: we are tracking your builds very closely, and we basically know what you guys have and what you might attack us with. We know it's enough to do some damage, but we also know we will be able to stop it before you guys gain too much. We've even done some simming on killing different stack compositions. Needless to say, our warmongery members are a little too eager about the idea of killing off a dogpile wink. Regardless, I think the only winner in this conflict would be CFC, and I don't think you guys want that any more than we do.

So I have one last idea for a peaceful compromise:
* NAP until T230 between all 3 of us
* RB will be generating two great persons in the upcoming turns. The first will complete on Turn X, the second will complete on Turn Y. The great person odds on X are <fill them in>, the great person odds on Y are <fill them in>. We will gift you each one of them. You guys can decide between yourself who gets which one.

This is the absolute best offer we can make. It's actually a little too much in my opinion (there is quite a bit of disagreement within our team over this), but our team has decided to offer it. I'd remind you that when it comes to keeping pace with us, this is basically denying us a golden age. If you don't take this, we'll be using this for a golden age at a very decisive time. If you take this, we'll be passing up on that, and our economic recovery will be slowed down considerably. We've also invested heavily in military to defend against both of you rather than building economic things, so you would have accomplished your goals of slowing us down, not to mention the bonus you both would get from a great person.

I would also ask that you please let us know your answer pretty quickly. This offer will have to expire as soon as the turn rolls to T170.

Thanks!
scooter - Team RB

Oooookay, thoughts on that last big whopper?

TurnPlayer Request: Please give me estimated turn numbers on when both great people will end, as well as percentages on the most likely outcomes

Perfect message in my opinion. If they accept, let's extort GP from CFC or simply burn all their empire.

I think whether we offer a GP to each should be based on Sunrise's assessment of how well we can defend them off. If he doesn't think it's worth 2 GP then we shouldn't offer.

I think we should be stronger in our wording to Apolyton & CivPlayers. Tell them that we are very confident in our ability to destroy what we've seen them build, and we will have troops ready to take it out. If they continue with this dogpile then they will only let CFC make gains.

Probably can word it better than that, but let them realize that they won't gain anything, only CFC will.
