Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

Maybe the angle for the UCiv draft is to not give any indication that CP being in is conditional on anything.

Quote:Yuufo,

Hey, idea for you guys to consider. Apolyton proposed an multi-nation agreement about EP missions. Here is the proposal:

* All teams that sign the agreement promise to never use civic or religion swap spy missions on any other team that signs the agreement for the remainder of the game, regardless of whether you are at war or peace with those teams.

Currently agreed is Realms Beyond and Apolyton. We're also asking WPC and CP at the moment, and think they'll be on board. Are you interested in agreeing to not use those two spy missions? We feel they are not very fair missions, but since they are not banned, we figure we can use diplomacy to remove them. Let me know what you think.

I'm not sure I understand what the concern is about mentioning CP, but Zargon's edit looks fine to me.

Sent Zargon's draft.

So like, do we have anything that says "no providing intelligence to our enemies" in our agreement with CFC? Because they're clearly telling Poly and CP where our units are. We're not at war yet so that isn't enough grounds (same as how we traded ivory to the Spanish), but what about after war is declared?

does it matter? do we have the ability or the will to strike them before turn 175 if we did decide they broke the NAP?

Hey I still want to know. So that I can post more rants that Caledorn can read, obviously!

Close borders with CFC then?

Well we can't do that right now because it's part of the agreement. Thus we should find out whether them giving intelligence is against the agreement.

I would say that aiding a third party in aggression violates the spirit of a non aggression pact.

I guess we can only hope to prevent intelligence passed on by their visible scouts, but not from any spies they might have in our borders.
