I have no idea where Fintourist's considerable power is lurking, and it's quite disconcerting.

Fintourist attacked Viqsi, so I stole her city in the middle of the map before Fintourist could take it and plan to take her easternmost islands before Fintourist can get there. Most likely her core will end up in Ottoman hands though.

I don't see any way I can come out ahead of Fintourist long term though, he has too great a tech advantage (and maintaining a superior GNP), more land, exponentially more production and food, more power (and still growing).

May as well start with why I'm happy to concede.

It seems pretty clear to me that there's no stopping Fintourist from here.

So, state of my empire at the end.

My capital;

Was slow to get up and running, but eventually became the commerce powerhouse it was intended to be.

The core;

Probably whipped too much preventing my cottages from growing early in the game, which caused me to fall behind tech wise. That and I was very keen to expand as far and wide as I could, which wasn't always the wisest option.

The middle;

Probably built Inshalla too early, considering it was surrounded by jungle. Once, A Glimpse was a nice food heavy city, before Fintourist took it a couple of turns ago. I think I missed out on claiming my desired city in there by a couple of turns, with Fintourist's "Tennis is a..." blocking off the city I'd planned 2S of the "me" sign.

The southern islands;

Escapee was a very good city for me. Very happy with my decision to go after it relatively early (5th city). Kapow! did its job too, providing the stone for Escapee's Moai. The rest were just filler cities.

The mini-continent;

Was just getting itself up and running.

Western islands;

Jackie Big Tits ended up being quite a nice little city. Probably should've tried to found it a little earlier than I did. No One Knows never had the worker support it needed to become a better city.

North-western islands;

Some good, but probably not great, cities that I founded fairly late. Just starting to properly contribute at the point of concession.

And finally, (unless there are any requests for more screenshots) my military;

Probably built too much too early, when there was minimal threat of being boated. Still, it's better than my usual not having enough military and dying.

Thanks Azza for the game! smile At the end you were definitely my biggest threat as you had more cities that Viqsi and Sareln combined.

I kind of always expected that you will get your economy up to speed, but for some reason you were struggling the whole game a bit with it. What do you think, did you perhaps overexpand or did you not have enough mature cottages or libraries etc.?

I think your first city plant was a bit questionable, with such long distances there was really no need for early copper and 2nd ring clams sounds like a pretty weak food resource at that time point (especially as you had to build monument there as well). Also I see that you settled at least Cash Cow and Inshallah with quite a little worker support. On the other hand, Escapee was truly a monster moai city and it was a really nice move to steal it from Hydra.

I guess I was just a couple of turns faster and luckily had enough units so that you did not end up attacking. Controlling the map center and its workshoppable grassland tiles, would have helped me a lot in the end game if the game had continued. Overall I think we had a game long cold war situation with units on both sides starting at each other lol I always wondered whether you have some kind of invasion planned that is just about to start..

I can't decide whether delaying Rifling was a good or bad idea , but your SotL's surely were annoying and Grenadiers also diminished my interest on attacking your core cities.

That was bold! lol You took my gold!

I think you had very very little military in the early game, but that was fine because of long distances. In the mid game you could have gotten away with lower military, but on the other hand the fact that you had an army was one of the main reasons why I attacked Sareln, Hydra/BaII and also Viqsi first..

Little bit of both. As you noted, my worker support was poor for long periods of the game, which meant I was slow getting those crucial cottages up, and this was exaggerated by the fact I just couldn't resist whipping settlers whenever possible. And, as you can see in my core overview, a lot of my cottages are still only villages rather than towns.
