Well I think what we do is we play the Commodore situation like a duel. We don't have to sell out to a rush - and depending on the land difference it may not make sense to - but we need to make unit production and defense the top priority. And maybe use some 3-move galleys to really mess him up

Horray for strangely appropriate signature quotes!
Do you want to keep the thread derailed or do you want us to be quiet?

No, banter away. Or if you're not comfortable with the Commodore topic, then we can always change discussion to sports.
For instance, I'm a huge Ryan Dempster fan tonight

Just saw a highlight for the Tigers' pitcher Scherzer (18-1), who won again today. Who is THAT GUY with THAT RECORD? Where'd he come from?
Thought you might appreciate the distraction.
I'm not a huge baseball fan either, but I do like the Tigers, and I go to a few games every year. Anyway, Scherzer's insane record came the same way all insane records come from - combo between fantastic play and a lot of luck (great run support for many of his wins). Scherzer's strikeout rate has been right there with Verlander's in the top 5 of all pitchers the last few years, so he's always had that gift. His record is also slightly boosted a bit by the fact that Verlander often pitches against the opposing team's ace, but that hasn't always been true this season. All that said, yes he's phenomenal and always had loads of talent, and he's finally getting the attention he deserves this season. Also, Cabrera did this the other night to end the game, which, lol: http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=29818781 . The team is ridiculously stacked, so I'm pretty excited for the playoffs.
Pindicator: I don't put nearly as much stock as you in the war dec on Lewwyn. Lewwyn isn't dumb, he knows what we did is harmless and that I chose a non-interfering tile to land on. We screwed their entire PB8 with a horse gift. I really doubt a scout war dec is going to be the thing that pushes them over the edge.

Pind, let's put the Commodore situation in the context of the sports commentary guy. Channel the rage from angry monday morning quarterback callers on sports talk radio. Maybe pretend that you're Jets fans, and that the Sanchez butt fumble was actually meaningful and was the play that cost you the game. And.... SCENE! /rageon

It's a matter of needlessly pissing off our neighbors. Yes, 100 turns from now if we act nice and other people piss off Lewwyn more then he likely won't remember. But right now, we have done the most to antagonize him. Add that to him still thinking about the pb8 horse trade and we're public enemy #1. Add to that the fact that getting sight on his capital gave us pretty much zero advantage (I'd rather be buddy-buddy and trade maps at Writing). So I think if Lewwyn wants to mess with anybody now, it's going to be us. To me, what we did stings a bit of arrogance.
New turn is up and I have moved the scout down by Lewwyn
Commodore declared war and moved in. I think this has to be a new record for being declared on by Commodore I am tempted to sell out and kill him and ruin our own game, just because this has gotten old. On the other hand, i wonder if from his point of view an early kill is the only way he can think of to get us out of the way...
I have not moved any of these units yet.
My recommendations: - Worker South, to chop that flatland forest
- Archer NW
- Warrior NW. I'll also entertain moving the warrior south to threaten a tag team on his warrior.
- Revolt to slavery

Lewwyn is not going to attack us just because of the horse trade in an earlier game.

That's not what i argued
Move the warrior NW. If he wants to be aggressive then let's return the favor

You haven't played many games against Lewwyn have you?

I don't see declaring war to pass through safely as antagonistic. It's standard play. If someone did that to us and took care not to step on tiles we were working, I'd think nothing of it. Maybe I'm crazy, I dunno, hah.

We actually may NEED to tag-team his warrior. He's going to be on forests, and our archer won't get odds on that.
