Ironman Ponderings (D1)

I'll shamelessly bump this thread with a Murphy-style IM report. In my last solo warrior IM run, Foulwing dropped a Blackoak shield. Now this is an item I had been kind of obsessed with finding, and suddenly I felt like was finally going to be the game when I made it back to hell. I never made it to level 6 though... victim of a buggy fire arrow trap. I was at or near full health at the time, and don't even want to think about the possibility that the -10 VIT from the shield may have been what did me in.

The least they could have done is sent a spitter pack behind a door to seal your doom...

Ah, D1 IM. A more precise and unforgiving game there never was. YOu make me miss it.

Well, unitil I remember the walk speed. The main problem is the walk speed...and the clicking. Walkspeed and clicking, those are the two drawbacks ... and the desynch with Macs. The *three* drawbacks were walk speed, all the clicking, and desynch with Macs ... and the client/server desynchs. The four, no, *amongst* the biggest drawbacks are such elements as, ah bugger it, I'll come in again...

I haven't heard from them in a long time. The only Tower regs I still have any contact with are the ones who still post at the Lurker Lounge (and here), and that's a pretty short list. I'll never forget that first time we stumbled into the Ironman channel and they tried to teach Friar some manners. Big mistake!

Speaking of Tower regs, has anyone heard from Moriah recently?

Weekend solo IM attempt ended on level 14 to a pack of hellspawn.

I just want to thank you for the great site of D1 ironman reports. I haven't played d1 for ages, and never really cared for d2, but ironman run was always the thing I wanted to try. Back in good old days I could barely make it to mid-cats, but now my record is late caves with solo warrior. Mostly thanks to excellent guides of realms beyond.

And it's really nice to see that people still play this immortal classic.

Mo is still around, well, on and off when he is not playing AC. He tends to show up for a couple of weeks and then disappears for months. But I haven't been playing kiwi hours for awhile now so I haven't seen him since.

What, made it to lvl 14 and no story?!
