Early game, ignoring aristocracy is good if you can get beakers another way. It isn't that expensive however, fitting it in before Sorcery(probably 6x the cost) should be fine.
I'm not sure you need it, GK is still very useful and the extra food can be put to good use if you get enough specialist spots. But I don't think it's off focus really, when it's one relatively cheap tech. I meant its off focus from the techs I need to research to get the scientists for bulbing sorcery. It's a great investment, but it takes time to pay off. I'm working under the assumption that it's the ETA on a library that decides when I bulb Sorcery, and so long as I don't fall too behind in tech, its the ETA on Sorcery that decides if I can launch an attack that results in a winning position. If I have surplus food post writing, CoL would be the ideal tech as I expand. But again I'm thinking I need some meat shields to complement the wizards, so I'll have to keep on planning as the map unfolds.
Erebus in the Balance - a FFH Modmod based around balancing and polishing FFH for streamlined competitive play.
![]() Updated overview with dotmap (move west city 1N) - things are cramped but a specialist strategy is well suited to tight quarters. Gold will need culture to get started. ![]() ![]() Dotmap for core. Impossible (for me) to tell from fog-gazing that the dye tile was jungled, so southern warrior needs to make a detour north. Time to work out some micro... Probably land up killing that windmill forest and settling 1S. Definitely Fishing is the first off-focus worker tech. ![]()
Don't quite get what you were saying, but that dye is definitely jungled.

From fog-gazing, it looked like the tile was clear, so I would have visibility through the tile. Dispersing the fog showed that it was jungled, so my southern warrior will move north to get visibility on the tiles S & SE of the dye.
Do you have city 2 decided yet? You might think about moving the wheat city 1E onto the river.
Depending on how your research works out that could get you quite a few extra gold from trade routes. You're ages away from whaling boats and lighthouses anyway, and you can share the sheep with the capital aswell. |
