[SPOILERS] Team Orgynized: Parkin/Arki/Magno embark on a kinky adventure

Turn 14

Demographics

Eagles and Condors finished a tech. From the increase in soldier count it was most likely Sailing, Hunting, Mining or Animal Husbandry. Based on the length of time it took them to finish, I'm betting Animal Husbandry.

Only Gladiator's Glory are yet to finish a tech. Hmm, I wonder what the odds are that they're heading for Bronze Working right out of the gate?

Exploration

No sign of the Lion at the start of this turn, but figured we may as well keep moving south-east anyway. Probably should have done 1SE-pause just to be safe, but fortunately we didn't end up next to a barbarian from 1SE-1E.

No sign of new resources. I guess we're all agreed on 1N-1NE next turn, to detour back towards our capital?

Nothing at all happened this turn. No changes in the demographics nor the scores.

Barbarians

Another Lion appeared, fortunately not in our way this time.

Moved the Scout as planned. More Gold! Though probably closer to another nation than to us, given that it's 11 tiles away as the crow flies and more via land given the lakes in the way. I highly doubt there's more than 20 tiles between civs, and probably more like 14-18.

Looks like 1N is the obvious next move, followed by 2NW onto a forest or perhaps 1NW-1NE onto a hill?

This turn pace is pretty nice!

Is anyone else really surprised we have no contacts yet? So far it looks like we may be able to play a hell of a peaceful builder game which is awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing the interesting bits of fog NE of the capital soon.

Yeah, nice that we seem to have got into a rhythm of 2 turns a day most days lately.

I was wondering about it, but I'm not too surprised we haven't yet. If most of the other civs are using their Scouts to explore the land around their capital as we are, I wouldn't expect contact for a few turns yet (except where by chance the Scout circuits overlap). When everyone probably has a start that encourages an early Work Boat + Worker build (in some order), that really slows down the Warrior builds, so exploring around the capital with the Scout makes a lot of sense.

The high maintenance game settings pretty much sealed that before we started, but it's looking like we may have at least a little extra leg room compared to what I expected. Too early to tell for sure, but we can probably rule out anything closer than 12-14 tiles between capitals. Definitely good news for playing more of a builder game - there's no way early war would be profitable for anyone with a setup like this.

Yeah, it'll be a relief to have all the potential locations we could want to found a second city unfogged so we can make an informed decision on the best location to settle. Hopefully that should be accomplished in the next 10 turns or so.

I will guess that our scout is halfway or closer to an another capitol. We could ofc try to discover our eastern neighbours.

Probably not much more than halfway. If we assume 14-18 tiles horizontally between capitals, then the halfway point would be 7-9 tiles away horizontally. We're currently 9 tiles horizontally from our capital, so probably close to equidistant from our nearest neighbour.

I'm not sure we'll gain as much from earlier contact as we would from full knowledge of the area around our capital for our second city plant. If this were a couple of years ago I'd probably be more inclined to make contacts ASAP to get the ball rolling on some decent NAPs, but I think most folks are more wiley these days and so regardless of when we make contact we probably won't gain much NAP-wise. Also there's the fact that I was relatively unknown around these parts a few years ago, whereas now most folks are familiar with me and therefore more likely to be cautious in diplomacy. tongue

Speak of the devil... looks like our western neighbours just found us. smile

No diplo message from them yet. We should send one to them soon with cordial greetings and the like.

Demographics

Our GNP went down due to finishing Animal Husbandry. We revealed a source of Horses, by the way - you can see it at the bottom-left of the screenshot above.

Apparently we were the first nation to finish two techs. I wonder if the others are switching around their research to delay finishing techs and throw off demographics analysis? Seems odd that we'd finish two techs before one team has even finished their first.

Seriously, a third Lion? Well, looks like we're surrounded by them. Can't avoid a battle at some point, so may as well continue 1N - at least we'll be on the forest. Any objections before I go ahead with the move?

Actually we even have two sources of Horses. Though unfortunately one of them is severely lacking in food resources, and the other has them very awkwardly placed.

Proposed message to Team Margarine:

Quote:Greetings Maga_R, slaze, and other followers of the Master and Margarita!

We at Team Orgy were just preparing for our latest festival of debauchery on the streets of Hermione when we noticed your Scout approaching our borders. We're overjoyed to make contact with your nation, and would like to cordially invite your Scout to join us and perhaps dabble in a little hedonism if he desires while he's in the area.

Have you been in contact with other nations, or are we your first? (No shame either way, of course!) You're the first team that we've met, though we're likely to run into our eastern neighbours soon. We'll gladly let you know who they are when we do - perhaps we could even enjoy a little ménage à trois together if the mood feels right.

We have no desire to engage in war at any time in the near future - our soldiers get more than their fill of activity at home. As such, we'd be glad to agree to a mutual pact of non-aggression of almost any length you desire. Perhaps we could start with turn 50? Please feel free to suggest anything longer or shorter as you wish. smile

Kind regards,
Team Orgy

Any suggestions, corrections, thoughts for improvements, or complete rewrites would be welcome. smile

Lions, why does it have to be lions? I think 1N is the best move, though we could get screwed by a die roll. At least we'd have a promotion to heal with. Anything else sets the scouting too far back as I see it, and it's not like there aren't lions around if we retreat anyway.

I'm worse than useless with diplo - I'm from the Sullla school. lol I don't think I'll ever try playing a diplo game.
