Only Serdoa (t47 and Lewwyn (t41 - lurkers will know if I've just screwed this up as civstats only goes back in time so far) are ahead of that, so this is good news (interestingly none of these are IMP or EXP). This is good news, if true! Maybe we start climbing the scoreboard also eventually..

No problem! It would have brought us maybe couple of extra beakers later, but not a big thing!

Mixed feelings! It was really great to cover the corn and I'm burning to reveal more tiles, but losing the scout would be really annoying and it does great job fog-busting.. I won't complain regardless what you decide!

You remembered to switch our capital into settler, right?

I could not help myself and had to test a bit more.. Starting the warrior in City C immediately after granary whip is definitely the right move and things work very well!
Here is a very rough screenshot on where we could be on T75. Last ~10 turns were played fairly unoptimized with random build orders. At this point we surely want to have at least a settling party heading towards city number 6 (island pigs or something else).
All cities either have granaries or are building them. City C has library, B & D have barracks etc. Our turns 65-75 will surely include quite a lot of tile swapping and probably more whipping than what I've done here... But I guess we don't need to worry about that yet. An annoying barb warrior will ruin our plans anyways..
Overall the situation with 5 cities will be: Our economy is not strong, but can easily take couple of more cities. However, in order to get a solid 10-14 city civ up and running, economic efforts are required: Key items include getting intercontinental trade routes in our cities, working calendar resources, getting more cottages up, courthouses in the most stretchy cities etc..
Btw, I went Archery -> Writing -> Maths in my sims. Mathematics beeline is actually not too bad as our City E has quite a lot of forests that can be then easily turned into granary+barracks. We don't really need IW just yet. We probably want it just before calendar so that we can clear those resources upfront. However, I'm wondering if we should take cheap AH after Archery/Writing (RB mod made it cheaper) and see if we have horses! It would be a pity to unknowingly build a cottage on the resource. Resource will be a bottleneck, but I think we should reach our other goals (e.g. Maths + Sailing) fairly well even if we squeeze AH in.
I.. must... stop... planning...

Our thread is probably the most.. boring.. ever. ![shakehead shakehead](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/shakehead.gif) I'm sorry Harry, your excellent reports won't get the attention they deserve as I just keep posting and posting..
When you play alone, you can keep your disordered micro in your head and report only the actual happenings or interesting stuff. However, when it comes to optimal team play and making as good decisions as possible, I guess we are doing a good job.. Kind of.. Despite the demos..

It's not horrible, but I am having a devil of a time keeping straight your actual current position vs your hypothetical micro runs.
But I still read along, so that's something. ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) And early game is always boring to read, unless you go to war.

I write reports to get what I'm doing straight in my head, to help me play better and refer back to what is going on when I'm not at my civ machine. If anyone else wants to read them I'm generally a bit non-plussed (but happy!) - I had a long while in 46 where I was sure no-one was reading, then all it took was getting invaded and ripped to shreds a few times and the popcorn was everywhere!
We're doing something right because we're third on thread views behind Pindicootium who just sit there pressing refresh all day and Commodore who I think is up there with Ichabod for best writer on the site. Of course the thing we're doing right could be accidentally dumping beakers into fishing and running zero military while Mackoti builds a massive army of axes next door... folks love a car crash!
Anyway I like the Maths beeline for all the forests around cities 5 and 6. After that perhaps sailing to get a scout over the water? My limited fog-reading skills make me think that's part of our continent though so if we want intercontinental it'll have to be the island by the river valley.
I thought Iron Working early would be good to clear all the resources first letting us hook them quick when calendar comes in. When will our workers run out of other things to do? I had the same thought about cottaging a horse the other night though, so if AH fits in without delaying our maths chops in 5 and 6 we should do it. Also if courthouses are a priority for us I'd like to aim for Confucianism. I don't know if we can afford it before calendar, but if we miss it which of the other religions are we likely to go for? Judaism hasn't fallen yet...

You aren't the only one. ![lol lol](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif) Actually should we just report on the sandbox and say screw the game? We're definitely winning in the sandbox!

I think early-ish Sailing sounds good. And pity if you are right (as usual) and that's not an island!

Our workers will be quite busy still for a good while. Unless we are very unlucky with jungle spreads, we won't need IW before ~T80/90 (expect seeing iron would be of course nice). We want to build courthouses eventually (maybe at ~9-10 cities), but that's also not an immediate worry. Religion would be awesome, but damn we are hurting for commerce. I wonder if we have any chance of getting Confu through Maths->Currency->CoL. Probably not.. Judaism would probably be worth the investment if we knew that we are getting it...
