I totally forgot to include the screenshots in that post, I'll edit them in in a second.

Exciting occurrences have occurred!

First, I founded my third city (South City) last turn, its working on a granary (slow-built, 1hpt) until i tech writing, then we'll start on a library for tech//border pops. I'm debating whether I'll birth a Great Scientist in this city or the capital, but I'm going to try to get a capital academy up as soon as possible.

East City (I think I'm just going to write in acronyms from now on, so EC) is almost done with my 4th worker, and will then start on an ax to accompany the settler I'm about to build in the capital.

ALTERNATIVELY, East City will start on a settler right after its worker, and the capital will build a bit of an ax and then a library.

Still working out which one of these I like better. I think I def need the ax for guarding the settler, so either it needs to be whipped out of the capital or built in EC.

I'm going to try to get another settler out in quick succession, EC is just going to be a unit/worker/settler pump for the near future, need to figure out my site prioritization though.

Techwise, obviously finish writing, then I think either try to beeline up to monarch for HR + all my wines, or get sailing and think about where next after sailing.

Repeat post and no pictures? Not sure if that was intentional or some sort of mishap.

Not sure what happened above, I didn't mean to post that twice.

Ok, here are the screenshots, and I also forgot an "exciting occurrence" ™.

I FOUND A HUT.

Really didn't expect there to be any left, just got 32g, but w/e, its better than nothing. I then amusingly discovered I stole it right out from Jowy's scout's nose. Good job Father.

I think I'll head in a vague south/east direction, uncovering the next layer of fog and also trying to find Jowy's capital. I didn't expect my scout to even be alive this long, so he doesn't really have a true goal atm besides uncover things and remain alive.

Here are overview shots of the current Amestrian Empire

So upon replay Jowy stole that hut out from under me. I really really don't want to force a replay, the small amount of gold just isn't worth it, do lurkers have advice? Is there an easy non-disruptive way to see if this can be fixed? (or actually, is this a thing that even SHOULD be fixed even if it were easy? We weren't in a scout race or anything since neither scout could see each other before moving, I was aware his was here cause I played first in the first version of the turn, but I don't think they ever knew my scout was there).

So... lurker input for a newb?

Well as he didn't pop the hut during the first time he should have stayed away from it during the replay.

Hm after reading the tech-thread there has been a lot of logging in out and what not so it is understandable that that went missing. Perhaps you can bring it up in techthread and ask there (and 32 gold that early are several turns of 100% science so nothing to sneeze at).

From what I can tell Jowy immediately reported the bug instead of playing through his turn, so I don't think it is an issue of playing through a turn differently the second time.

Turn rolled, and I really don't think its the best course of action to start a big todo about getting the hut, I don't think Jowy/Black Sword deliberately messed with the replay, in fact I bet they never knew I had grabbed that hut on the first go around. Given that in the initial version of last turn that I played before they did was pure happenstance, I don't think I really have more of a right to the hut than they do.

So all that + desire to keep up turn pace means... PLAY ON.

Speaking of that, I found honestly the first city site I really really want to grab, its probably nto going to be my next one, but if Jowy isn't just beyond the fog, I want this marble/wheat (maybe bronze) site. MINE. This is now my near term goal, acquire this site.

I'm Agg, they're not. If it comes to war, I don't think they'd provoke me, as long as I'm not egregiously pink dotting them I think I can get this if I make it my goal. They just built the oracle, which means they haven't been focusing as much on expansion. They also just (obviously) oracle-teched something. I would be willing to be lots of money its metal casting. I'll go look up if MC has solider points and stuff to see if I can find out more from c&d, but metal casting is the clear play here. No way did they manage an absurd civil service slingshot, maaaaybe there's an argument for something like monarchy or code of laws, but they already have a religion and hereditary rule is only so-so this early (in my opinion anyway).

Given this, I bet they want to build the Colossus. That is more hammers not going into settlers, workers, and military. So. THE SPOT WILL BE MINE.

Hopefully this is mostly irrelevant and the spot is closer to me anyway, but these are all encouraging factors.

So here's what I've learned about Jowy via scouting. I haven't found the capital, but I have found other suggestive things.

1) I've located two unclaimed copper spots on the other side of the great forest (my name for all those trees where the lake is). I suspect these are Jowy's coppers, ie, he's supposed to claim one of them to be his metal. I ran into two of his warriors coming from the south east around the northern of the two coppers. I bet he's fogbusting to settle that copper in the extreme new future.

This tells me one extremely important thing. I BET JOWY HAS NO METAL RIGHT NOW. Now this doesn't mean I should rush him, but it does mean he has basically no cheap answer to an ax/spear pair I use to guard a settler. Something like... 3 chariots at best? And given his religion/oracle rush its questionable whether or not he even has animal husbandry. Looking at the demoscreen/civ stats, I don't think I see a 2k boost in power that lines up with a tech that could be AH, (but I could easily be misreading this, I'm not good at c&d).

2) Jowy is probably only a few tiles beyond the fog at the moment, since the mapmaker wouldn't put the copper too far and I doubt he'd send two warriors off THAT far from his capital.

So we have Jowy, probably lacking , axes, spears, and chariots. I think I should aggressively settle the lake, guarded with a spear/ax or ax/ax (or if I can manage it ax/spear/ax). Jowy may see it and get angry (I still don't know quite how close it is to him), but its at least not adjacent to his borders, and most importantly he won't have a cheap recourse. I'm aggressive, I'm making these axes and spears from by barracks city, he'd have to go on full tilt to get past my doubly promoted metal units, and could only start building the counters AFTER he settles another city.

I would really rather he not go on tilt so we don't end up in a war. This lake would be an entirely satisfactory "border" for me, I'd have plenty of space to backfill, and hopefully Jowy has (adequate but not as good as mine) space to backfill. But if push does come to shove I just can't see him taking me out, I have a super good production city, already with barracks, that can quickly pump out double-promoted metal units. Jowy founded a religion, so has little reason to have built a barracks for the culture, so will be fighting with non-promoted units.

So... new plan. Aggressively settle the lack, then as quickly as possible backfill the gap between the lake spot and my civ. Send an ax/spear (at least) along with the settler to guard it and the workers that will quickly chop out infrastructure in the new city. Profit.

this is a screen shot from last turn, show's the warriors. That's a lovely gold right there, but I bet Jowy is about to settle it. Oh well.
