Turn 38

Revolted to Slavery so we can whip the Settler next turn and overflow into Stonehenge.

Demographics

Blame Caledorn got a population growth and a tech. Care Bears got a population growth. Soldiers up by 9000, so the tech could have been Bronze Working or perhaps The Wheel.

GG settled their second city this turn, as did Margarita. Also, Care Bears founded their third city last turn. I'm a little surprised at that - even as an Imperialist civ they can't have more than 1-2 Fast Workers at this point with all those Settler builds. Surely that can't be optimal. Unless they netted two strong commerce resources, maintenance is not going to be kind on them, and they may fall behind the curve on tech. I know a little about Yuufo, and he's played like this before (early overexpansion leading to a relatively backwards nation) - we'll have to wait and see what happens next.

Cities to date:

Care Bears - T28, T37
EggHeads - T33
Blame Caledorn - T33
Eagles & Condors - T36
Gladiator's Glory - T38
Margarita - T38

Graphs

We finally got graphs on Margarita.

I spotted that too. Could be, though I'd expect slaze to use his own name if he were to log into the game. That hasn't happened yet.

Recieved a message from Eagles & Condors:

Quote:Dear Orgynized,

We recently finished scouting a wide area around our cap and thought now would be a good time to approach you about the relationship between our two civs post t60. We are approaching you first because the geography of our shared border lends itself to an extended peace between our two nations. We both have easy access to horse/copper. The large freshwater lake - "Prosperity Pond" perhaps? - dramatically shortens our border and we see no contested resources between our first ring cities. Moreover, we are in a position to gift you land that otherwise would lie on "our" side of the 7 tile border.

We understand that there may be much to discuss, but to get things started we propose extending our NAP another 60T, expiring T120 unless renegotiated on or before T110. The 5T settling clause would remain, but with a good faith agreement that we would negotiate a border favourable to Orgynized.

Peace would also give us the opportunity to generate income from trade - if an NAP is in place, can we agree to open borders post-Writing? We are happy to share the cost of a trade road or defog a coastal route if you have plans to settle for your northern fish and research Sailing.

Just so there are no surprises later: if you are interested in opening borders, we do have to consider the problem of the Great Lighthouse. We project enough coastal cities that it is worth building, even for a non-industrious civ like ours. If either party landed the GLH, open borders might be difficult to maintain. A non-compete clause with compensation or a mutual agreement to forgo the GLH are options. Please let us know what you think.

Once/if we have a NAP in place, we look forward to discussing other forms of trade. We anticipate surplus cow, sheep, corn, and wheat to start in addition to other, more creative, forms of trade.

All the Best,
The OxySuttocratic Republic

Seems they're not looking for an early rush, which is promising. Will share more thoughts later - busy now.

Hmmm... is it? We could let them get TGL and then take the city later.
Considering number of small inland seas found by now, I would say that TGL has a lot of potential... so does the collossus.

Our first Settler was finished. Just a couple of hammers of overflow.

EggHeads got a population growth, as did Blame Caledorn and Eagles & Condors. Bowsling/Aivoturso got a population growth and a tech.

Meanwhile, Care Bears whipped not once but twice for 1 pop each.

Really nice work with the micro to build SH in 1 turn at 0 risk, and also ending it with the workers ready to move south! I have absolutely no question that an EOT 40 SH vindicates the second worker before a settler, much more than a lot of extra mines do.

This going to give us a big score lead, for better or worse. I think Civ 4 score is dumb, but it does stare everyone in the face whenever they log in or look at CivStats.

A personality read on Oxy and Sutt: They're both in PB11 (a greens game) with me, but they seem like really bright guys who know their basics and are learning a lot. And (no spoilers) from CivStats several cities have been conquered between them in that game. So, if they're at war in one game and able to work together in another that maybe says something about their personality? I'm pretty impressed, actually. It could have been another Slaze / Maga situation. lol

What do you think of GLH on this map? There may be a surprising number of possible coastal cities. Any other wonders you have your sights on yet? Prefer to keep things a bit close to the chest? lol

Also, what an interesting start from care bears, to horizontally expand as fast as possible (literally) while whipping cities immediately. My guess is with you that they'll fade out sooner rather than later as the benefits of bigger cities and earlier worker improvements become apparent.
