Something interesting about the map I noticed - we've centered the world map with Stonehenge, so we know we're in the north even though there's tundra and ice to our south. So obviously the icy equator was part of the mapmaker's design. However, the type of forest which grows during a random spread apparently depends on latitude - not the type of forest which spawned it. Check out these deciduous trees which grew in the middle of the snowy pine forests.

Very random message from Eagles & Condors:
Quote:Dear STR_TEAM_NAME,
DiploBot here. Studies show that random e-mails to other teams improves mood and makes hair shiny. Also, it makes them more likely to think well of <OxySut> when making deals. DiploBot does not compute, but DiploBot is a slave to his fleshy masters. Until the robot apocalypse.
Soon.

Weird. As far as I can tell they're pretty much saying "we couldn't think of anything to talk about, but figured we'd drop you a line anyway". Which is fair enough... aside from the potential NAP extension, there's not really much else to talk about until we get connected for trade.
I guess the fact that we got Hinduism might be an added incentive for them to get a trade connection with us ASAP (for a chance of a random religion spread), so we could mention that to them.

I am happy that I now did see 2metra replying on whatever they are talking about in the lurker-thread. I was a bit surprized that he did not join the game, but now it seems he is lurking (or at least slightly participating)
On the other note: more troops or waiting for refined copper first?

The EggHeads met us and sent this message an hour or so ago:
Quote:Team Orgynized,
Hello! Our warrior has finally found your civilization's borders. We're sure that other teams have told you that we're neighbors --- and we are-- so apologies for our late contact. We needed to keep this warrior around for barbarian protection until we obtained sufficient defenses for our cities.
Anyway, we'd first like to congratulate your on your strong opening with Stonehenge, possibly a religion and maintaining a respectable rate of expansion. While our scouts haven't been able to completely reveal all the land between us, it looks like there's still room for both of us to place cities between our capitals. At the moment, we've been settling in a mostly north-south direction, trying to both get the benefit of the coast above and the resources down south.
Say, about the map, here's what we suspect:
1. It's a continents-style map, with northern and southern landmasses. Ours appears to be the southern one. Of course, it's toroidal, so we can probably meet the other continent's civilizations soon.
2. In our landmass, we have the following civilizations in order, starting and ending with us: EggHeads - CareBears - MM/Asterik - Sut/Oxy - Orgynized - EggHeads.
3. Everyone started next to a lake, with a nearby gold resource.
4. There are rare luxuries (e.g., fur, silver) down south, and Calendar resources near the north of the continent.
Upon meeting you, we now have contact with all other civilizations on this landmass. Out of curiosity, how many civilizations have you made contact with, and have you been able to determine a way to meet the civilizations on the other continent/landmass? We are only now beginning to send workboats out to explore the seas, so we cannot say much yet.
Speaking of this continent, it looks like we're both in the "good" continent. By that, I mean we avoided Rome and Sumeria, and it looks like we might be able to remain peaceful for now while hoping that the other civilizations get bogged with early warfare. Lovely news! Unfortunately, this also means that the strongest civilizations will also be near us. Right now, we are on friendly terms with Team Care Bears (India) but we are concerned about their rapid rate of expansion. According to our notes, we were the second team to reach four cities (on turn 58), but on turn 59, Care Bears settled their seventh city (and then got The Oracle on turn 60)! If you're as worried as we are about this, feel free to talk to us and we'll see if we can work something out. We are also on friendly terms with Team MM/Asterik and Team SutOxy, and hopefully can develop the same kind of foreign relationship with Orgynized.
Last but not least, we can finally talk about diplomacy between our teams. We're not interested in early warfare, and we hope that you are as well. With that in mind, we would like to offer a Non-Aggression Pact up to turn 90 (30 turns from now). In addition, we also propose an Open Borders agreement. If you would like to talk about negotiating a fair border agreement, please let us know. Even if we don't want to talk about this, you'll be glad to know that we don't have any current plans to settle further west in your direction.
Finally, if there's anything else we can do to benefit both of us, we should do so. One way is by possibly sharing wonder plans. While we understand you'll have the advantage due to being the only Industrious civilization, we have also found a nearby wonder resource that we might soon connect. Currently, we don't have plans, and we assume that you don't too after getting Stonehenge and after Care Bears got The Oracle. Still, The Pyramids is available ....
We are looking forward to your response. Please do not share the above information with any other civilization.
Sincerely,
DMOC of Team EggHeads (DMOC and Teddy only right now)

Quote:Care Bears are up to an insane 7 cities - and what's more, they finished the Oracle this turn (T60).
Wow, what a crazy opening! It's not the fastest Oracle I've ever seen but they probably needed to get Masonry and settle on marble (or have it in the capital) to get it that fast?
They have to be sacrificing something at this point... like worker techs maybe?

Turn 58
Barbarians
Unfortunately the Care Bears' crazy expansion did have an indirect downside for us - it triggered the final stage of barbarian activity (full pillaging mode) several turns earlier than it would otherwise have triggered. Combined with some bad RNG luck on spawns, we now have to deal with several heat-seeking barb Warriors a few turns before hooking up our Copper, instead of after hooking it up as originally planned. Not a big deal, but an annoyance which requires spending extra hammers on Warriors.
