[Spoilers] Fintourist and Old Harry have nothing to see here

WB can't prevent you from working tiles

Thanks Oxy - that info deserves a particularly heroic unit!

If we could kill the WB without cost I'd do it, but its not worth leaving Lunch in the lurch is it?

Our unit supply costs might hit the heady heights of 2gpt, but knowing about our border with dtay could be vital...

Yeah, thank you Oxy!

I'm just teasing you Harry! If good scouting costs us couple of gpt's then so be it.

Nobody of course likes any costs though! mischief

Turn 88

dtay wants to be our friend... I accepted.

How about a city just for the ivory happy? No fresh water, no food, eight forests. No ta. Let's let dtay settle it (to the north east? It would be good for us if he settled a no-food border city wouldn't it?) and trade for ivory when we need it.

mostly_harmless turned his work boat around - so lets be friends with him too! (Except that he's still putting EPs on us.) Slowcheetah didn't notice our contact. I wonder how many EPs we can put on him before he does. I think the bowman from Cannae next turn should head down into the jungle, possibly hanging around the dye or iron to gather XP.

We start a settler in Agincourt while the one in Endor will finish eot89 - everything is on schedule for settling Hastings t92. With this size of accompanying force I'm happy not to declare-peace Suttree again next turn, what do you think?

Lunch is on his way home. I had another look at this island and the indicated tile (or 1S) could make for another good city, except that it can be boated from Slow's city. Perhaps SE of the wheat would be okay, but its only two turns for Slow to hit it too. So we'd only have one good city on the island, which would be hard to defend, being so far from our core... I hope we can find a bunch of good sites elsewhere so that we can come back to conquor this place later. It occcurs to me that Pindicooter's Vikings are going to be a nightmare on this map... I hope they are a long way away. please

Demos - we're seventh on power now. That's not farmery at all! (Oh, and unit supply is still 0gpt - I might build some more scouts tongue)

I agree with you, let's not try to rush that. With Calendar (& eventually Monarchy) coming in, our luxury resource situation is quite good.

What a peacefest this is! lol

Yeah, let's forget that for now. I see more negative than positive consequences.

Lunch coming home means that it will continue scouting the island where France is and maybe help to support settling of City I, right?

I don't think we should dream about any other city sites on that northern island expect maybe the one on the desert hill. That wheat resource seems to belong into slowcheetah's second ring and seems pretty unrealistic to me.

dito Although based on deceiving score they seem to be doing quite good and eventually I also do want to be at the attacking distance of all the strongest opponents.

But the same can't be said about our overall unit costs! Every gpt counts! nono

Yeah, but theoretically we do not want a single unit that we don't need/use! On the other hand I admit that missing exactly that one unit is the most expensive practise.. mischief

Hey Harry, have you kept our sandbox updated? If not, maybe you can send the latest version you have and I might try to update it during the weekend. I think we have not yet reached the state where we should stop testing, because it's too much work and we have already secured the win! crazyeye

Just remembered we are allowed war elephants in RBmod - they're just strength 7 instead of 8 I think.

Yep, I think dropping him on the forest NW of France is the best move, then he can go W-W, W-NW or W-SW.

It shouldn't be too far from the save stack (although I think beakers are off, and France has gone differently). I've been meaning to get it back up to date, but haven't got around to it... I'll see if I can dig out the last version I had this evening.

So, how better to fill the time we're waiting for the reload than with idle speculation about the "bug":

Commodore, Suttree, Scooter and TBS all logged in after Bacchus. Suttree and TBS both ended turn, so probably not them with the complaint. Commodore was before Scooter and chipped into the tech thread, so its probably him. He just settled his 6th and 7th cities last turn, so he can't have miss-moved another settler. Maybe a unit in a city with a barb approaching got automated and ran away? What other bugs are there?

More importantly, I think we know a few things about our two new neighbours, Slowcheetah and Ichabandit:
  • Slow has 6 cities (if it's less than that I think he lost one to Ichabandit around T64 while civstats was on the fritz) but only one classical tech (presumably maths) on t72.
  • Ichabandit has 7 cities, even though Pindicooter razed a city on t70 (which gives us a clue to where Pindicooter are!) Again only one classical tech, finished on t80.
I wonder how we'll make contact with Ichabandit?

Hmm.. No idea about "the bug", but somehow I have a bad feeling about it. Well, let's trust Brick that he sorts everything.

I actually checked slow's city list in the game, but I can't remember whether it was 5 or 6. rolleye Didn't he lose a city to barbs? I think I wrote about that one weird score drop that happened during the inter-turn.
