HAK attempted to get us to loan him some troops:

I just got this from Plako:
"Hi,
It seems to me this war is soon reaching status quo. If you're intrested, we could start discussing about the terms of peace. I'm sure we could find a way to make it worthwhile for both of us."
Basically they've taken as many cities as they could, they can't take Occam and their stack is sitting in our culture costing them a lot of money. Meanwhile our naval action is keeping a lot of units (around 30) pinned down in their coastal cities. (Actually they could perhaps take Halberd this turn or next turn, but that isn't the point.)
So we can try to hold them at war if you think you guys can do some damage come t210? If they try to get their stack out of our culture to come after you we can hit it on flat ground doing a lot of damage, but not killing every unit (maybe half) meaning that you would need to be ready to mop it up. If you don't think you can hurt them then I think we should probably concede the game. I'm still enjoying myself playing but I don't see any way we're going to overtake Trolls, so I'm happy to carry on. If you guys are bored lets concede, if you want to have a nice big fight then lets play on!
What do you reckon?
...
Just FYI Plako is offering peace if we agree not to gift away our army.
As we owe you guys quite a lot of that army I can't agree to that, if we paid back approx 2500 hammers of units to M3 and 1400 golds worth of units and gold to pirates that's a reasonable interest rate (about 5%). So Trolls might go for that. Would that leave you with a chance to hurt them or is that just setting you up for the slaughter we've just had?
I'll assume we're staying at war for the foreseeable future, can you guys give an update on what your armies/defences/attacks are like?
Occam's lives?!?
First impulse is to accept plako's offer and take the tie and not get conquered. My cities have reached their draft cap. Second impulse is to secure an NAP with Trolls and go invade M3 (FOR TORTUGA!), our NAP expires T220. Third impulse is the old 'tech and die.' Fourth impulse is to fight this Troll war for eternity... nah.

Occam's lives!
Trolls pillaged everything they could with their Cavalry and pulled out.

Old Harry's starting to pay back the loan:
I'm heading for Military Tradition, arrives in 4 turns. Drafting is starting to become a problem:
And wow, Trolls' economy is crashed:
Though I doubt this is 0%... we'll see.

I bought an Airship from Old Harry for 150 Gold. Trolls are now making 303 GPT at 0%.
I got a Great Engineer from Havana, what shall I do with him? Assembly Line/Pentagon is a million miles away. Statue of Liberty or Golden Age? Problem with Golden Age is that I only have 5 turns of peace left, and problem with Statue is that this game probably won't last long enough for it to pay off.

I need to be more decisive. First losing 2 turns on the NAP cancellation, now losing a turn on the Q front...

On the Q front? Did I miss something? Are you at war with Q?

With update to come once I snap more pictures...
I'm moving a detatchment through Q's land to attack some of the Troll cities on the border with Q, since I have Open Borders with Q. The downside being that the units will be out of position for about 8 turns, and if the Trolls mass their Cavalry in any of their cities there's not much I can do.
But... scratch that plan.
thestick Wrote:Qgqqqqq Wrote:thestick Wrote:Does the 'no moving troops through each other's territory' clause in your peace treaty with the Trolls mean I need to turn my army around?
Why did you move a stack of Knights into Screwdriver?
What're they doing there?
It means you shouldn't try invade via my borders, if thats what you're trying.
He gifts it next turn as part of our deal, and it likely has prohibitive war weariness so I preempitively moved them in because there was a chance the turn would have to be played by someone else (or left to flip automatically) and I wanted the MP in position.
Actually, thats way too boring. They're there so I can NAPstab you and raze Fort Anping
Aah.
I was trying to invade through your borders; I'll turn around once the turn rolls.
Qgqqqqq Wrote:On the subject of which, do you want a 3852430 turn NAP?
I'd like to keep invading an open option if we're still playing this 4 months down the line
New plan: just ram everything into Screwdriver (Troll frontline city), raze it, then build Cavs to fend off the Troll doomstack.

About time for a state of the empire post. First, a look at the military situation.
Recon Stitch (caution: large!):
The Troll/Q Front:
Power:
The Troll doomstack:
The main problem is that the Troll Cavalry can make it into Screwdriver by T213. I should have enough troops to defend myself.
Navally, I have 5 Ships of the Line, but I haven't seen a single Troll ship out here, since Harry's busy sinking them.
In foreign relations news, HAK and I have thrown our lot in with Harry, while Q has thrown his in with the Trolls. Q's purchased some Troll frontline cities and is receiving a Gold gift from them. Meanwhile, I'm now Harry's vassal:
In civics news, I'm getting a surprising amount of mileage out of Universal Suffrage cash rushing. I haven't whipped once; I should have swapped into Emancipation for the rival unhappiness
In domestic news, I'm pretty drafted down. I'm above the happy cap, but barely:
I requested Harry's spare source of Silver, good for another round of drafts.
BitTorrent, the tiny little island city, is finally draftable:
Demographics reveal how bad this position is. With Q buying cities off of the Trolls, I'm back down to 5th in Crop Yield.
The plan moving forward? If peace breaks out, Great Engineer the Statue of Liberty and Spiritual swap between Representation and Universal Suffrage. Then start industrializing.
