And there's a smidgen of a hint of a chance that Ruff will get the save to Sian before bedtime...fingers crossed!
For the actual turn:
Oh, come on! I want to beat Twinkle, but not because of something like this
He's definitely got some last second preparations in place, walls ( ) and a scout to soak collateral . Glad I waited for the 5-8th catapults. I'm actually wondering if I should bombard some more, but I think the answer is no - or at least only with a few. I think wounding will accomplish more.
Well, I don't have anything better to do while I wait for the stragglers, let's knock those odds back toward something reasonable-ish.

You have 8 cats?
Hard question. I think you should just attack with everything, but if you do that, you likely will not be able to take anything else, except maybe the iron city.

Well, if I can deprive him of all his strategics (which I think those two cities control), and also go to 8 cities to his 4 (even if his 4 are core cities), then I like my odds for the next wave.
The annoying bit is that if I use any cats for bombardment, I really should do that before I send any in, so I've got to know the right answer ahead of time. Maybe I'll set up a WB-sim. Maybe I'll just attack with all of them. There's no way I want to reserve any unless I've tested.

I think you lose 6 cats, 3 HA and 2 axes if you attack, given the following: All the cats take CR1 and all the HA take at least C1.

Save didn't come in last night - but it's here this morning!
Never simmed, ended up decided that it's against the spirit of the game. And more importantly, I'm lazy. But...TT hit me with catapults IBT, three of them.
Killed two, the other withdrew. It means most of my units have a bit of damage, and Twinkle's garrison is not increased any. He's probably only got that one catapult to hit me with IBT - I decided to take the chicken approach and bombard/heal. I can wipe out most of the effects of the bombardment by doing that, and it looks like I won't decrease the odds of attacking Gergovia because he's now building cats instead of hitters.
Maybe I'll regret this next turn when he hits me with three more cats. But I don't think he can.
In other news, I went ahead with my Iron Working research. I've got a native source
And I confirmed Twinkle's source. Gonna send a HA and spear combo to go pillage it.

Exciting!
Waiting a turn sounds like a good call to me. Most of the units in your stack can promo-heal before attacking, right?
Has TT had an opportunity to see your Galley, or will the HA/spear combo be a surprise?
And what does that Wall do? Apparently it doesn't keep opponents out .

Yes, except I decided to do that this turn for the three HA who took the actual cat attacks - they were all pretty wounded, under half. Still, I did kill 100 hammers worth of cats without any permanent losses on my part, that's something.

He could have seen it, I advanced until I saw the mine. Depends on how much attention he's paying. The bigger question in my book is whether he can afford to do anything about it. I think holding Gergovia is taking every unit he's got. At minimum I ought to distract him, even if I can't cut the iron.

Well, it's actually a Dun, Celtic unique building replacing wall. Puts city defenses up to 50%, halves effectiveness of bombarding, and all units trained there get a free Guerilla promo. Certainly it slowed me down, if it weren't there he'd have no cultural defense at all after last turn and I'd have probably gone in this turn. I can justify healing + defense reduction, not sure I can justify just healing.

I meant that visible ring around their territory. That's from a Wonder, right?
