[SPOILERS] Money in the bank, pimpin' ain't easy (AUSTRIA)

cry Two choices:
1) Destroy the camp, meet Almaty and get influence for destroying the camp if it's already their quest.
2) Keep the camp, found a city on the coast, build a ship, meet Almaty, pledge to protect, wait 10T, and kill the camp if/once it is their quest.

Meanwhile, our spear is getting annihilated by barbs in the northeast. It retreated with a sliver of health.

Got the free Settler from Liberty. Put in the first chop for Pyramids. Barbs are being a pain, but I expected that and thankfully built the archer. Here's hoping others underestimate the barbs and struggle dealing with them :P I still need more units because I'll have 3 workers running around and they need to be covered.

Called it! jive Azza's clearly having some barbarian troubles.

Calendar in, just in time. Need to get crap improved now, and those Pyramid workers will help with that.
Salzburg was founded this turn. With 14 jungles this will probably be our science capital. It's a slow-burner, though.

Tech tree. Neglecting National College a bit longer than I should, but we'll roll with it.

Everyone else has a pantheon already. No reason to rush it now, I'll build a shrine after some other more important builds. Stone Circles is what we'll go for, it's +2 faith from quarries. We'll have four of those in the first three cities.

World Map in strategic view. I like it wink

Salzburg! shades
Now it's critical to deal with the barbs so our upcoming Pyramid workers don't have to run for their lives.
Azza's barely alive archer found our lands. Plz don't lead those barbs here, you big bastard :P
In fact, I should deal with Azza's archer as well. I could see him throwing it at us to deny us a worker.

Wow that hill/mountain buffer...
Yeah, I'm not happy about my past behaviour either. shakehead

This is not what I wanted to see one turn before two workers pop up next to my capital: It's surrounded by three barbarians.
I took out the archer this turn.

toast
Pyramids complete!
Situation after playing:

I attacked the spear with everything we had, and it will die next turn. The spear is a 2-move unit, but the rough terrain works to our advantage here. It can only move to the orange hexes.
I should have been safe to have that third worker improve the cotton, but I didn't want to risk it because of how I failed to understand ZoC the last time lol

More barbs keep coming in. Our spear is dead and our archer is in critical health. Completed the second archer from Vienna, and gotta go straight to building a third one. Four barb camps around me, one in each direction. Workers are all still alive, though I had to send one to Salzburg.

I regret everything

The pic says the worker still has a move, can't he go northeast?

Yep, but he's on the run now, completely relying on luck and not improving any tiles in the meanwhile.
