[SPOILERS] The Autobiography of a Madman (specifically, Zaldax)

Well, the scheme I had in mind relied on a particular leader, who isn't particularly great on a map with lots of water (and if Serdoa goes the Custom Continents route that he mentioned in the planning thread, I suspect that's what we'll be dealing with.) Plus, with the slot that I have there are many, many better leaders that I can choose from. I'll be posting some early thoughts soon, but I think I'll save that particular naming scheme for later. (Maybe I'll post a screenshot from a SP game that I used it in at some point, just for laughs.)

That being said, I'll almost certainly use a funny naming scheme in this game, I just haven't thought of one yet. My choice of leader/civ will probably have some impact on my decision, though.

Zaldax - there are two wars going on here:

1) The war to win a game of civ
2) The war to accumulate posts

We don't stand much of a chance in the former. But in the latter, my friend, we can achieve victory! Or at least 2nd place, since noble and gaspar are essentially an old married couple hopped up on Ritalin and hate.

Is there a situation where you would choose a civ over a leader with 2nd pick? Does the map affect your choice of leader? What are your strengths and weaknesses as a civ player?

Also, my phone corrects Zaldax to "Zaps axe", just so you know.

Like thestick, I had a dream. In this dream, I was sitting at a cafe in Buenos Aires, nervously shuffling papers in preparation for an interview with the mysterious "Zaldax". London, Paris, New York - his name was on the lips of the chattering classes everywhere. Who was he? How had he managed, at such a young age, to achieve that effortless perfection the Japanese call "Shibumi"? Looking up from the table, I saw him approach. The afternoon sun blinded me to his physical appearance, but immediately I was filled with a sense of awe and, I have to admit, more than a little jealousy.

Hey Zaldax - I'll do up a sim for you tonight. What do you think of the start?
EDIT: Actually, I'll wait 'til Serdoa gives the dimensions of the map, since that affects maintenance costs.

I'm pretty sure Seven/Krill are going for style points here - so it seems you get first pick of civ! That's not to say Zulu isn't an awesome civ for a start with irrigated grain and ivory, but definitely not worth being left with last civ choice. To be honest, I think this start can accommodate a wide range of civs.

Oooh, an excellent start, I like it!

I'm leaning towards Elizabeth -- I think that's going to be my choice! Before I finalize it, though, I wanted to get your opinion Sutree; are there any leaders you think would be a better choice?
