In Pre-Searing, has anyone tried...

...buying the flute and red little girl's cloak that always seem to be available from the merchants, and giving them to Gwen?

I'm tempted to try it - might unlock some special quest or something, but given that the cloak is 200 gp (!), I haven't worked up the nerve yet.

Anyone tried it? If so, what was the result?

Result in pre-searing?

Nothing.

Buying her a new flute and letting her follow gets you heals.

Giving her enough flowers (4? 5?) gets you a quest item (tapestry square) that no one has figured out what to do with. They stack in storage, though.

I have heard people claim that buying her a cape gets you more combat heals, though, the one time I did it I did not notice a difference.

You'll also find her broken flute post-sear. I've tried offering this to the gods at a statue--no result.

I really REALLY hope they pick up her story in an expansion or something--it would be a shame to waste all this and make it another "chat gem".

I'm pretty sure she still heals you even without the flute. Buying it and/or the cape may increase how often she does, though.

The fact that inventory/storage space is so limited and that the tapestry shred doesn't seem to be linked to the character that earns it has convinced me not to bother with it unless/until the quest it's for is fixed/implemented. Then I could start a new character and stick around Pre-Searing just long enough to find 5 flowers to get it, head to Post-Searing and transfer it via the account-wide storage.
