ok, my new thing this week is to log into the game every day to get back into the rythm of this game. with pb9 and other things... and you doing such a great job, I haven't logged in much. I also want to be prepared if you ever need me to take over.

oops. I set it to axe but we need happy here.. a market is 9 turns without whip, but how soon can we get religion here?

azza researched Alphabet. I think he's the only one that has it among civs we have made contact w/ - although scooter was online so I couldnt check them. worth asking for open borders? why not, extra trade routes would help us and he'll have no problem getting them from others. I think we'll need to invade him long term, but not at least until we have maces, cho-kus, and cats... I don't know really.
goals? well there isn't any elaborate gambit out there for us. the nearest wonder we could possibly shoot for is the Taj, which is still a good bit away (whoever got Christianity will surely beat us to the religious wonders.. I guess we could get notre dame but that hardly seems worth it).
So the only goal I see is to max out expansion. we have what.. 5-8 cities left we can found? 3 good cities on the big island, 2 backfill in the jungle.. maybe 1 on the small island, 1 with no food near azza on land already in our culture.. there's probably a crappy backfill out there somewhere, so maybe 8. then we will need war to expand. so I say set that as the goal now and start preparing for it.
War w/ Scooter just doesnt seem tenable. it would be a heavy naval war, and they are the vikings and have +1 ship movement. we could go to war w/ nakor but couldnt gain much and if we started to win scooter would jump in anyway and get more spoils than us. So azza it is, I think. Poor azza.
How to go after Azza? I don't think we have a significant MFG edge, but we do have a tech/research edge. so in the short term we focus on building, infastructure, economy, to exploit that and get a larger edge, then once we have a military advantage we build a huge army.
will maces/cho-kus/cats be enough? I think so, chos will be strong here. do we need to wait for knights? maybe for 2nd wave?
Can we skip hereditary rule for a bit if we get calender? Im thinking after civil service we go calender - metal casting - construction -machinery. fitting in HR won't be that bad if you think we need it. the shrine in 16 turns will help a lot, but also keep building libraries, markets, and courthouses. build only enough axes to insure we won't be invaded - which shouldnt be hard since Scooter doesnt seem to want to fight us and the other 2 aren't a serious threat. build a few more cottages but once we have metal casting we need to build lots of workshops - why not exploit our spi trait by constantly switching back and forth between slavery and caste, once we have workshops on the ground?
so the short term goal, I guess, is to maximize our economy - micro every city as effeciently as possible. so, yeah, work on getting library, market into every city with a cottage, and courthouse into every city w/ a large maintenence, etc, and religion into every city. yeah, thats boring, but I don't see any other goal until we get a military edge to fight azza. I can help with that, I think, I've always been a builder at heart. like I said I'm working on getting back into this game now that pb9's done and gone. I can probably start playing turns in a week or so if you need me to as well.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.
