You have gained the Border Friction Casus Belli against TEAM. Now can I declare war on Q? (March 12th, 2024, 07:40)naufragar Wrote:"But naufragar, I want to be an emperor, not a product manager." Soon, my bloodthirsty friend, soon.
This throws a wrench in things.
The backstabbing move would be to use this as an excuse to leave the coalition, negotiate a settlement with the Trolls, and invade Q. Declaring war on Q with the Trolls still looming overhead is not in my best interests at the moment, since introducing another enemy army (no matter how outdated) is a bad idea. Invading the Trolls directly and marching 4 tiles into their culture isn't a good idea. Few gains, capturing cities not connected to your culture, etc. On the flip side, this may mean that the Trolls aren't planning to invade me, but I don't think I can bet on it. What I'd like to do is get a guarantee from Q that he won't let Troll troops move through his territory and then start loaning my army to M3/loading them onto Galleons... but I can't trust Q to uphold his end of the bargain. Hunkering in San Juan may be the best option, even though it's exactly what they want me to do. On second thought... I think that Q is just looking for an opportunity to profit off of the war, not necessarily working with the Trolls. Still, how do you not realize buying frontline cities might throw a wrench in the war? Paranoia still high.

That solves the awkward invasion front deal, lets you hit into Troll land and avoids the avoids that city deal effecting the game state. I am no longer participating. I have so much RL obligations/opportunities through the end of the year that I have decided to give up gaming and leave the forum for a couple months.
Good luck (whatever that means ), and sorry I haven't been much help in the past few months.
I'll be waiting for you at the end of the universe.
In other news, I sold my soul to Q and signed an eternal NAP and gave 300 gold for Screwdriver. That city's mincemeat, but I need the friendly culture in the area as protection. Besides, this game's going to last, what, 10 turns? (March 12th, 2024, 07:40)naufragar Wrote:"But naufragar, I want to be an emperor, not a product manager." Soon, my bloodthirsty friend, soon.
Meet Santa Maria:
The goal here is to pump out as much culture as I can before I have to abandon the city. Aerial recon showed that the Troll Cavalry doomstack is nowhere to be found, so I moved my army into the city. Right around the time the Trolls started marching towards Occam's Razor, I emailed them about whether they'd attack us. They replied that they were planning to attack T230, and wanted an NAP until then. I thought they were telling the truth - if you're really going to attack, you wouldn't say it out front, right? At the time, I thought that the Trolls would easily roll over Old Harry since Harry didn't have Rifling yet, so I decided 'if I'm going to have to war with the Trolls, might as well do so with the coalition.' Of course it turned out that Harry's Cannons and Airships kept him safe, and technically my best move right now would be to renegade on the coalition and furiously tech... but again, honor and ego. ... Paranoia spiking; Darrell asked me this same question back then (March 12th, 2024, 07:40)naufragar Wrote:"But naufragar, I want to be an emperor, not a product manager." If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.
I screwed up the war effort by not having Workers in the right place and the right time to merge with HAK's stack, and now have nothing left to do except hope darrell's not paying enough attention to mass-whip Machine Guns.
The current plan is to pick up some of Harry's six-move Galleons and start pillaging some islands. I'm going to request permission to slow down on the military buildup. Teching's more fun than warring, anyway. At this point, we're all just waiting for Harry to give up. I even think crowning Harry the winner is a valid option, since I doubt darrell will mind.
