So what happened to all of the original teams? I know why TEAM crumbled, and I have a decent idea of what happened to the Trolls, but what about the other three?

We never got a good organization structure going, and by the time Tortuga fell practically everyone abandoned ship. Thanks to Cornflakes for sticking with me, and being the micromanager.

Curiosity before I start on your threads: did anyone think I was a spy after I started buying Troll cities? Stuff in the secret forum started to get inconsistent so I wondered...that's part of the reason I sold the middle city on

I'm actually beginning to suspect Q is a mole.

1. He moved a stack of 10 Knights into Screwdriver.
2. He has no motivation to work with us against the Trolls, since he has a long NAP with them.
3. He is receiving a Gold (resource) gift from the Trolls.

I asked Q about the Knights.

I don't know for sure, but I think the reason TheStick carried on playing from such a tough early position (and did such a good job of it) was that he was having fun. I think having the chance of one last hurrah against the big bad Trolls and seeing what his civ could actually do was pretty appealing so we did whatever we could think of to make these last few turns as fun as possible for him (intel, airships, resources, reporting, etc). Whether that had any effect I dunno... I wonder if you'd offered him some help to take our island holding while you took the mainland he'd have agreed? I think we never had a NAP with Pirates all game, so there was no obstacle to them attacking us...

Why Gillette?
I mean, too late too change it now, but why'd you choose them?

Right around the time the Trolls started marching towards Occam's Razor, I emailed them about whether they'd attack us. They replied that they were planning to attack T230, and wanted an NAP until then. I thought they were telling the truth - if you're really going to attack, you wouldn't say it out front, right? At the time, I thought that the Trolls would easily roll over Old Harry since Harry didn't have Rifling yet, so I decided 'if I'm going to have to war with the Trolls, might as well do so with the coalition.'

Of course it turned out that Harry's Cannons and Airships kept him safe, and technically my best move right now would be to renegade on the coalition and furiously tech... but again, honor and ego.

To be honest, the idea of warring against Gillette never crossed my mind. The planning stages of the coalition were fun, and definitely the idea of the Grand Alliance, but moving giant stacks around while realizing that there's nowhere to attack wasn't. Due to the previously mentioned war scare, we signed an NAP with Q until T250, which looking back on might not have been the best idea.

I honestly expected the other teams to stay out of it and just try to catch up while the two leaders dragged each other down. We did play the diplo game ourselves, so I guess we can't complain, although our diplo was mostly focused on trying to get people to leave us alone.
