So if thestick is aboard, ought to be right.

So if thestick is aboard, ought to be right. That's correct, except DST's over, so now it's 0000-0600 GMT. And I'd prefer not to play in the morning this time.
I think we should ban Inca, India, Sury, Financial, AP, Elephants including Ballista, Spies, Nukes, Blockades, Huts, Events. Start shot before picks. TGL up to Commodore's discretion.
Barbarians? None? Diplo? AI without banter?
Is there enough water for circumnav?
More people have been to Berlin than I have.

Well, I can't speak to the leader ban list, and I'll hold off on ivory work until I get BE ban confirmation, but I can say I was planning on Barbs on, enough water for c-nav, but I don't think the GLH should be particularly broken.

I guess if you're taking formal votes, like I've said for most settings I'm fine with whatever. I was assuming barbs and huts would be off since they seem to be for 90% of BtS games, but I don't have strong feelings regarding either. Banning Ballista Elephants seems tantamount to declaring that the Khmer are out of the running, which is like okay, whatever, we have 30 other civs or something to pick from. I believe we have already agreed on no War Elephants, Nukes or Spies.
I don't really see the point of banning any leaders, civs or traits. There's only five of us- if we can just select whatever we want within the confines of a snake pick, we will all be assured of grabbing a power pick. I personally intend to go with whatever I think I'd have the most fun playing. So my vote is for not banning anything, but I'm not going to throw a fit if people want to restrict options.
Only vote concerning diplomacy has been Mardoc's for AI-only + Banter Thread. I am okay with any type of diplomacy which doesn't involve cryptograms or Tumblr.
I do agree that banning blockades is a good idea.
I think I have seen a grand total of two events happen in BtS games. Do whatever with this setting.
I'd actually like to play with Corporations, but again don't really care much either way.
Sorry if I sound testy, I'm not annoyed so much as just impatient

I was just telling Commodore that he can start working on the map and that it would still be used even if you decide to dump us :P

This works for me. Financial ban is a bit irregular, but I think it's actually a good thing because I'd personally like to play something else than financial for a change and not feel like I'm screwed from the beginning.
AI diplo with banter thread is fine. Any rules as to what we can say in a banter thread? I've never played in a game that has one.

need TheStick's mail (might have it somewhere in an old file but that demands me to dig very deep in my mail archives) and a clue who starts (which we would need anyhow to set up the snake pick), before i can get onwards with the tracker
not really any strong preferences on banning Financial or Inca/India/Sury (although i'd lean towards yes) ... Balistia 'Phant on the other hand i'd suggest accept, so we might see Khmer in a game

Shall we ask Commodore to roll to see who picks first/plays last?
First in turn order rolled as TheStick, so once you have settled on your ban list snakes goes:
Bob -> UP
Mardoc -> On deck
Jowy
Sian
Thestick
Thestick
Sian
Jowy
Mardoc
Bob

So that's three votes for TheStick's civ/leader bans, two for no bans? Guess we're using TheStick's bans. Looks like more votes for Ballista Elephants banned than not, and corporations are allowed.
So to be clear:
Banned: Nukes, Spies, Elephants, Fin, Sury, India/Inca.
Let me know if I overlooked someone's vote and counted up wrong.

Well, basically, don't say anything diplomatic, just stuff that's fun. Like 'ooh, sorry Mardoc, I seem to have accidentally burned down that annoying border city of yours', no 'hey guys, we'd better do something about Mardoc, how's a T150 dogpile sound?'.
If we don't think we can stick to that restriction, then I'd prefer just straight AI diplo.
I guess we're waiting on Commodore to make the map. And possibly also to weigh in on whether waiting for starting screenshots will slow the game, or be irrelevant.
Anything I missed?
