(spoilers) wetbandit proposes his own civ4 mod

How late can you leave it before you have to commit to the axe rush over other options? Definitely worth considering.

Definitely. On further review, Kuro has copper 1S of his capital, which lends against any super-early rush.

Here's the overview:

Kuro also has copper and hooked it up a few turns ago, thanks to already having mining as a starting tech. See MFG and Power respectively:

No point in rushing now, Kuro has BW and copper. Finishing warrior now to scout out the Pink Dot area with sheep first ring and corn/deer 2nd ring. Worker to chop into settler next. Not sure it even makes sense settling in that area without metal backup, it's going to be quite the investment to fight over that spot.

Unfortunately, there's no viable site that can share the corn or copper and claim additional good tiles in its first ring. There's not much else that makes a good 2nd city either, other than settling short on the plains to get first ring deer and share an FP with the capital.

Rather than overlapping that heavily with the capital, what about a slightly more aggressive city with the sheep 1st ring too?

My last paragraph was unclear, I'm considering the 1st ring sheep with 2nd ring corn/deer or the 1st ring deer "safer" spot. I should have written that there's no other viable "safer" spot which claims tiles and can share some improved tiles with the capital. Therefore, the aggressive spot becomes more attractive.

Right. Well, since you have copper in your capital, I think an aggressive plant is best. It gives you control of the important area between you and Kuro, and you already have the capability of defending yourself unlike my aggressive plant in 11 where I was defending solely with warriors hoping to get horses up in time.

Didn't see a bear, but there was a lion, so the warrior stayed put for now just in case. I'll let you decide when to move him to the forest hill. Didn't give me any instruction on tech, so I started AH. Moved the worker on the eastern forest, moved the scout 2E1S.

Game related:

Chopped into settler, complete this turn (T30). Overdue for pop growth. Kuro has his scout parked on the desired settlement spot and renamed his scout to Bear Eater. At one point, it was at .9/1.0. That sort of thing should probably not be allowed, in case that was an actual meta attempt, but I'll take the free information. There is a stray lion running around though.

Low content:

One team consists of two partners who have released competing balance mods to BTS. I have proposed WBmod in which you are locked into playing Hannibal and a civ with a chariot UU.

Nuts.

That's a settler under Kuro's warrior. Will start observing a turn split now, Kuro is first to play, I haven't played yet, save for a scout move before I realized I should starting observing a split. Settler is ready in the capital. Viable spots are 1W of the deer or NW towards the oasis and hill sheep.

I really timed this poorly with AH not due for a few turns. First settler should aim to claim horse, if possible, due to strong UU.
