[SPOILERS] Dtay in PBEM53

I'll give a full layout of my plans on the next turn go around, but I'm feeling really good about my place in this game. I'm outexpanding everyone else by a substantial margin, my score is highest despite no wonders, and neither azza nor baII appear to have expanded in my direction yet.

Don't want to count my chickens before they've hatched, but I think I'm in the pole position after 50 turns. Now I need to be mroe careful, expanding more deliberately (though steadily) with military to back it up so it doesn't all come crashing around me. Azza attacking me right now would be quite insane given the space between us, so this means i'm going to stack all my military (which is now more than 1 chariot!!!) up near baII for the near future. I don't think him doing anything is in his interest either (lots of room to expand yet), but getting involved in a war//getting one of my cities razed is the obvious way to let the others catch up.

Island city should be online in 5 turns, roughly the same time as a plant in azza's direction to claim a juicy river. (Yes commodore, there will be pictures. Next time).

yay!

I'll be honest, I didn't know this game existed until today. But if you start updating, I'll lurk!

Yeah, I will. I wasn't planning on really reporting in much depth initially but got more interested in doing so as this game went on. The turn pace has slowed to a snail's pace over the holidays though, so only 1-2 turns have happened over the last week+. Once it gets back around to me though real reporting shall begin.

Ok, update.

Here's the overview shot of the empire:

This is the shot after the turn ended. Just made another worker in Guangzhou, and its production will be switched to a settler. Dump 1 turn of production into the settler, then double whip it. This will be the settler for the islands.

The capital has 5 turns of whip unhappy since I've been pretty liberally slaving stuff there, so its just going to stay at the happy cap building workers until it wears off.

Nanjing doesn't have much excess food, so I'm going to hold off on the whip there, just grow and work cottages/gold.

Hangzhou will probably whip/chop out a settler for further west in the next 4 turns.

Shanghai I don't know, not sure yet.

Xian is building military to guard the border with BaII.

Chengdu is working on the galley for the islands. Its put 1 hammer in so far, then 2 turns of 7 hammers, then a whip to turn out the galley. The galley will first check out that island directly south and see if its settleable. If not, I'll head west with it, at worst going to this marble out here (whcih I want by the time I research calandar)

I bet I find a spot to settle before then though.

Also, yes I'm thinking of renaming the cities. Just haven't gotten around to it. Anyone have good theme ideas?

Demos:

I think I'm actually pretty much in a massive tie for top 'real gnp' if you take out culture. Not winning or anything, but I think everyone's close to the same place there.

Unsure. Discussion spoilered b/c talks a lot about PB13:

So on a purely terrain level all my cities are a lot less differentiated compared to the terrain I was dealt in PB13. There I had a lot of plains making mass cottaging difficult and sort of spotted oasis's of food, and then what I specced a city as varied depending on what is around the food-spot. Here there's nice food and grass all over, so I CAN put anything anywhere, making the decision a lot less obvious for me.

Relevant points for this game:
1) I can cottage basically everything, so everything is probably going to be at least part cottage-hybrid, with maybe 1-2 exceptions.

2) Chengdu is a potential heroic epic city. It lacks a bit for food with just 1 5-food tile, but I can farm that grassland north of it come civil service for more. The copper and then grassland hills make for pretty good base production. I think I want my heroic epic city to be coastal for sure for flexibility should ships end up mattering a lot on this map. From what I can see/infer of the islands, it looks like they will be. the Moai could go here as well then, if I don't put it on an island.

3) National Epic - there's a lot of flexibility here. It just needs to be somewhere with food (which could be anything) and then secondarily the ability to get a few wonders in there. Hangzhou and Shanghai are probably the front runners here. Ideally I want to chop out the great library in the NE city, but who knows if I'll be first up that tech path at this point.

4) Globe - again, just need high food, and preferably little else to do. Not worth much until drafting IMO, so not going to think about it much right now.

5) Oxford/Wall Street - Wall Street probably in my holy city, Oxford in whatever has the most beakers come education, not really sure what that'll be right now, very far off.

This turn might take a while... I can almost certainly raze a BaII city that was planted near me, but not sure if I want to. I'm also out of town at a tournament so... this might take until tonight.

Not sure who this message is FOR since the players can't see it, but anyways.

Turn played, no war, reporting is going to be sparse in the next few days cause of aformentioned tournament.

Rule question for lurkers, can circumnav be completed NS?

To get circumnavigation, you need to circumnavigate (i.e. reveal a tile in each column/row) in every direction in which the world wraps.
