Played. Sorry about the long break, though guiltily, I admit I enjoyed not thinking about Civ for a week! This should be my last delay in this game, unless it lasts another 365 days. rolf

To that end, we should reinstate the 24 hour timer after Jan. 1. We can do it now, but I'd need a pause for the NYE period.

I come back from my holiday. dancing

Anyway I think the timer should come back to a 24h limit. Everyone agree?
Also there is already 40 hours in this turn. Molach, Suttree everything okay?

I don't mind leaving the timer at some ridiculously long setting so that I don't have to play turns more than a few times a week but since that isn't really too likely I guess we should set the timer back to 22 hours.

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

After Molach and Suttree finish, the timer should be reset.

If most of you guys don't want to keep playing, why don't you just call the game a draw or simply abandon it?

I'm good with a 24 hour timer or whatever turn pace others want. Obviously I can't criticize anyone who is still on a holiday break, as well.

Ok, I've gotten enough hints that I don't mind being "that guy". And there isn't really an official admin to mediate this discussion, but I don't think any of this is spoiler info:

- This game is at an awkward point, where a number of people could win, but the balance of power is such that if someone were to make a move on another, it could just mean playing kingmaker to another player, encouraging passivity.
- It's taking a lot of time per day for all of us. And the balance of power means it could go all the way to a space race and take up a lot more time.
- The spark of interest may not remain for everyone.

As such, where I stand is that I'd be happy to call this game off as undetermined, perhaps a draw, and not worth playing all the way to the end if we're not having fun with it anymore. To be honest I'd be kind of relieved to have that chunk of my days back.

But I'm not willing to actually concede clear victory at this point. And if others want to keep playing I'm also very willing to see through the game to the end.

So I'm starting this discussion, in case there's a consensus that we'd all prefer to move on from this game right now. Is this the case?

I would be fine with moving on, but considering I've been checked out for a while, I'm not sure I should have much of a say

I'm very happy to continue playing; I'm not ready to concede. If continuing to play is unduly burdensome or is making others unhappy, to which bob's comment alludes, that's another issue.
