WW 31 Game Thread PARANOIA

(January 17th, 2014, 06:20)Lewwyn Wrote: I think scum probably would want him lynched than killed too since we have clones and apparently don't die on one kill shot. (If I'm reading that right.)

Erasing by the computer - praised he should be- removes all clones at once. Only other kills gives you the chance to live on.

I actually wonder what do you guys think of the loyalty officers ability. I am just wondering how we should use it. Let's say we target someone and we reveal if he used an ability, wouldn't that make it easier for scum to find someone with an investigative ability or role block? Since everyone has a role. It would just make it easier for scum to find the people with active abilities. Also what about the role block? We could potentially block a doctoresque ability for the night. We would have to target scum for it to work but it can also limit a good town ability but then it's not different from a normal role blocker targeting someone random every night. It just feels wired for it to be public and we won't truly know, how it affects the game.

I am not sure about these abilities use. They just have very big potential for damage. Espically since everyone will prob argue about them but then when I think about it, is it really that different from using their abilities at night secretly. Was there any other game similar to this? If yes, how did it affect the game?

Since this is role madness does that mean that " post restriction, role block, check if ability is used" are not abilities that we can have secretly ? Like can I be a night role blocker while there is a public role blocker?

This is just my meta thinking for today. I remember überfish saying we shouldn't talk meta to much, so I don't know if it's safe to assume stuff and then be slapped when we are wrong.

Well that is fantastic! We have a new ally in the hunt against commies.

I notice that the first commie suspect for Imana-665-C is also alphabetically the first of us? Perhaps Azza will be next. But the quoting of Novice is odd.

Old Harry (and might I say you don't look a day over 30!), I think that it would be really productive to have a brainstorming session about who you should investigate, but the final choice should be a secret. After all, if you announce in advance you are following someone, then they will have time to formulate cover stories, etc.

Where's Serdoa? Because I'm really looking forward to getting a smile onto his dial! smile

@Gag but how much info will we gain from knowing someone used an ability? Let's say we check lewwyn. He uses an ability like " see if target can kill ppl" will we force him to reveal the next day his ability and be a scum target ?

I read Bricks instructions:

To mean I post the investigatee publicly in the thread. I assume everyone also has secret actions they have to PM Friend Computer about, so this isn't our only tracker (I get confused with WW terminology - is it a tracker?)

Speaking of Serdoa I can guess what one of those items does, but not sure about the other two...

(January 16th, 2014, 19:23)BRickAstley Wrote: Equipment Guy, your items to pick from today are:

1)Mutant Spew Cola

2)Antimutant Lotion

3)Thermonuclear Hand Grenade

And to give people something useful to go on I was going to vote MJW for overstretching to find a flaw in the meta, but that's in character, so I'll stay on the fence for now. unvote

"Let's brainstorm about it, but I won't brainstorm at all".

Bad post...

Loyalty officer seems pretty useless given it's announced publicly who's being watched. I wouldn't worry too much about it, all it'll do is verify that people who claim to take night actions actually took a night action. You'd have to be foolish to lie after being watched.

Hey Hygiene officer, got any bug spray?
Yes, I'm implying the commies are nothing but cockroaches to be crushed under our feet.
Time to eradicate this itsy-bitsy Commie infestation!

I don't agree with the sentiments that we should let the officers live just so the public roles don't fall under scum control. We've got the same odds of that happening whether we lynch the first one or not. Notice that the order of replacements is already set in stone, so we can't play the odds by instating a random player to replace the last one. It's simple, really: If we find one of the officers scummy, we lynch him. Just like the rest!

Novice already picked up on it, but Lewwyn was quick to call out town leans on Azarius and Zak. Would be a little naive to think that Scum-Lewwyn would call out his scum buddies so obviously, so I don't think that's it. But it was still a little strange. Maybe he's just in a good mood, in which case I should try not to ruin it right away lol

I think there are two options for what the robot is. Either it's following it's pre-determined "programming" as some of you have guessed, or it might be controlled by one of the players as a less-obvious double vote. Brick is not a stranger to assigning a game-specific account to a player, he did it with all of us in his last game.

I think I figured out the items with help of the Paranoia RPG Wikipedia page. First one reveals a role, second one blocks a role, third one kills a clone. Though then again, the third one could just blow in your face and kill your own clone.

Glory to benevolent and wise Friend Computer!

At first I didn't really think so, but maybe you are on to something. The cheerful, enthusiastic roleplay that Gazglum's adopted might send off some false scum vibes, but he could also be playing his version of Colin the security robot from the HHGTTG game. And he's very eager to discuss things that I find somewhat irrelevant or uninteresting, such as the story behind the utility robot (time will tell) or who Old Harry should target (he should just use his best judgement and pick someone).

To rephrase, there's not a lot to talk about yet, but he still seems very eager to talk about it. smile

I also agree that Lewwyn was quick to peg me publicly as innocent. I seem to be a very popular target for buddying lately, and his baseline behavior is to suspect me, so it is a bit off. Maybe he's just trying to get me night killed so he doesn't have to worry about me later. :P
If you know what I mean.

If anyone was going to try that tactic Lewwyn would be the one. More likely he's scum and buddying Zak (disguising with Az) or we should take him at face value as a good villager pointing out tells (that I'd have missed).

They are already random people (except me, I'm clean) so I wouldn't give them special treatment. If certain others were leader I'd be tempted to vote them to get them to give us something to work with, but I have a feeling Matt would just ignore it.

Could Imana-665-C's vote for BRick be a hint that this is a bastard GM game and we should lynch BRick? No? Okay how about Q for the contradiction here, where he suggests novice is inexperienced:
