I'm going to go [color#ff0101]Bobchillingworth[/color] again. A good number of his posts contain arguments that I fundamentally disagree with - and that's it's impossible to call him on due to the fact he *always* covers his back by looking at both sides. There's continual statements of facts or ideas that are just flat out *wrong*, several of which are explicitly mentioned in BRick's posts to start the thread. This continued duality of opinion seemed really odd, until I realised that it resulted in basically everyone coming away with the idea that they agreed with Bob, almost dismissing the aspects where he was just flat out incorrect for the points where he confirmed their view. Seems to be mostly working as a way to fly under the rader while ensuring the dissemination of false data.

Great points Mattimeo. Really bad timing. Bob is well worth a look, but bringing him up at this stage in the day is just throwing your vote away. Anyway else I would say total scumbo, but I can't say I'm totally surprised from you. Good point on the sanitising though.

(January 21st, 2014, 16:05)Jowy Wrote: I pretty much explained it in that quote. I expect more from town novice than what he's done so far. His only contribution has been starting the Q bandwagon. He's done late bandwagons as both town and scum before. But we know that he was competing against a bandwagon on scum, and Q is looking townish. The other lurkers didn't vote for Q, and their quiet play fits better with their town baseline.

This pretty much sums up what I don't like about the Novice vote. It's so much predicated on gut feel, tone, passivity, expectations. And they are all important things. I just feel that -today-, we have stronger cases on others. Serdoa and Harry also have had tone issues (for me, Serdoa's logic, Harry's jokes and defensiveness), they also jumped on the bandwagon at a more critical point.

The point about Novice starting the Q bandwagon with 'this is bad', is really interesting. If he is scum, that was a superb play, good work Novice. It -did- make me want to change things up, and he had laid the groundwork beautifully for Q to become the fall guy. Superwolf play.

But Novice's defence is totally true:

(January 21st, 2014, 14:05)novice Wrote: The reason I said "This is not good" on day one was because the votes were very spread out, and the top candidate (Azza) seemed to be there just by virtue of nobody having anything concrete on anybody else. Normally when someone's lynched on day one with 4 long-standing votes on them (which was what Azza had when I commented) they're most definitely not scum. Again, these are general mafia theory truths which I don't think require much elaboration, really.

It is bad to have the votes as spread as they were. So, again, I come back to thinking Novice is less scummy to me than Harry or Serdoa. He often starts slow and gets going as time goes on - like an avalanche.

(January 21st, 2014, 16:05)Jowy Wrote: Btw I've gotta admit that it's looking more and more likely that the scum did gang up on Q on Day 1. I've been evaluating suspects separately without really thinking about any scum team compositions, and a lot of my suspects fall into the category of people who voted for Q on Day 1. If they fucked that up, it'd explain why novice isn't really giving a fuck, why Old Harry is all over the place, why Serdoa is eating humble pie.

I agree. I really think that some of the scum screwed up Day 1, it’s what makes the most sense to me.

And apparently to Serdoa. I can’’t get over how he spent the day arguing the technicalities of focusing on Q voters, and then says his top three suspects are his fellows on the train. It feels to me that Serdoa spent the day trying to find other targets, realised there wasn’t a good case to be made, and so was forced to come back to me, Azarius and Novice for our posts; even while denying the validity of any case against him.

Old Harry’ votes have been scummier than Serdoa’s, but Serdoa’s posts today feel scummier to me. If Serdoa is scum and not OH, it might explain why Serdoa is painting him with the innocence brush. If the other way around, Old Harry is trying to jump on the best shot of getting one of the Q voters lynched, probably figuring that we won’t spend 2 days in a row going for both of them.

Seeing a move starting away from Old Harry is making me want to keep my vote on him though. What is the tally?

I stated earlier that I don't think that Q was in any way set up by scum. Is it possible that scum was on him? Yes. Do I think he was deliberately set up by several scum or discussed in the scum-thread as "lets vote for him"? No. smile

BTW this is my theory, with the extension that it is likely that one (or more) of the later voters jumped on me in a last minute desicion. (Most likely Harry because of the panicky noob factor).

Quote:I didn't think that claiming does anything to sway anyone. Anyhow: Rowain got the item because I know that he was not involved in the kills last night. I watched him.

Given you've already said this much, would you care to full claim?

There are two seperate Old Harry setups, so Lewwyn is also on him making it 6-4-4.

At this stage I think all those on a 1- or 2- vote candidate should try to consolidate their votes unless they have something big to bring to the table.

I'm not sure why you're so obsessed with me, except I guess it's easier than making meaningful votes.

Claiming that I have "continually" made false statements is simply a lie. I forgot about Brick's "errata" concerning how double-night kills on the same person resolved, I admitted this and adjusted my assumptions accordingly. Mistakes happen, it's time to move on with your life. If I have been wrong about something else, kindly point it out.

You're also wrong about the duality charge, or at least misunderstanding the point of sometimes voicing alternatives. I'm not some dumb cowboy who is going to charge off after the first idea in his head without giving a rationale. I'm not going to go block (or ignore) Lewwyn using a public power without going over what I see as the pros and cons. I'm not going to demand vigs hold their first night fire without giving an explanation. I play this way in every game, village, wolf or otherwise. But I have and will continue to advocate for specific actions, like the first-day "no lynch" idea or vigs staying first-night fire- that I have taken the time to acknowledge possible flaws with my own plans doesn't mean I haven't taken stands. I don't even know what you want from me, to be honest. When I first proposed the "no lynch" plan you missed the part where I talked about potential issues (specifically wolves targeting one of their own), and then criticized me for the alleged omission. Now you're going after me for providing too many alternative takes.

You want me to dispense with the "duality", fine: I think you're probably scum and definitely worthless, and these votes are your way to avoid contributing to the village while disguising the fact that you have posted almost nothing of value behind a wall of contrarianism.

Do you have a specific reason for this? Serdoa has been reading town to me, to the extent that I would probably switch to save him, but I sense there's something more here.

Edged out by zak. Zak that last comment was largely aimed at you.

I guess I'll go for Old Harry based on his scummy day 1. I haven't seen any shining town moments from him today, either. Serdoa is off but I can't really see why he would struggle so much to be "on" if he's scum.
