WW 31 Game Thread PARANOIA

There were plenty of people not on either one that it's not a matter of scum voted for Qg vs. scum bussed Azza.

If old harry doesn't show up he's dead anyway. smile So I'm just fishing.

I'd rather stick with the simplest theory: Scum didn't want to lose Azza and tried to get Qg lynched near the end. It failed (possibly due to newbies and possibly due to the deadline time, difficult for Europeans) and they lost a powerful role. I like Azarius the best out of the Qg voters, but I see little chance he'll hang. Sticking with Old Harry.

I still think Serdoa seems the scummiest. Barring Rowain giving some kind of an explanation for once again trying to get people not to vote for him, he is my preferred lynch. Regarding Serdoa's claim of watching Rowain therefore knowing Rowain wasn't involved with any killing, if he is actually a "Watcher" then to my understanding he wouldn't know what if anything Rowain did, just whether or not anyone visited Rowain.

Also Ryan, if you're still around since you just voted, it would be nice to hear something from you not involving Lewwyn.

A self defense vote makes perfect sense, and it's something I would expect any villager to do. Sticking a vote onto someone you say you consider villagery because you need to defend yourself when there is still tons of time left in the day is not. (Disclaimer: Obviously even if there is time left but you will be asleep unavailable this makes sense, but you don't mention that.) You ask that votes move off of you and Old Harry so you can move your vote elsewhere in safety. Why not instead put forth a case on someone, put your vote there, and try to convince people to move there instead? If you can't get any traction and you're still facing the block near the end of the day then certainly vote to keep yourself alive. This just feels like you wanting an excuse to sit your vote on a villager and be able to wash your hands of his death entirely.

Saying that Lewwyn being able to kill can't be good for the village is just untrue. It's possible that it may not be good, either because he is scum, or he is town and guesses wrong with his ability. Just the fact he can kill is not necessarily a bad thing. Also, I take umbrage to you putting me in the same category of inactivity as Mattimeo to justify having no reads on me. Which I suppose doesn't really make much of a difference, since as Serdoa rightly points out, much of your reads are wishy-washy and interchangeable to the extent that you may as well have said you had no read on them at all. I can appreciate being pressed for time, and I know I struggled in my first game especially to construct reasoned posts, but you spent a good deal of time putting together a post that says almost nothing.

Well the bus was starting to roll down hill on me, do you think it'd have been a better idea to let it pick up speed going down the hill before I tried to stop it? I don't. I also put the post together right before I had to leave for work and was amazingly late arriving at the office as it was. I don't think it would have been good to push it further by spending time building a stronger case against someone, my boss wouldn't likely care about that reasoning as to why I'd be even later for work. And the last few hours here at the office haven't left me a lot of time to do much other than keep reading along and popping in here and there with short-ish questions and posts. So it's a good thing I got my thoughts out this morning when I did because I wouldn't have had time to write even the post I did if I had waited until later.

Time issues aside, I think I've elsewhere admitted to my own relative inability to build a good case somewhere in this thread. I didn't really like having to give away all the leans I had this morning because I'm sure a lot of them must look pretty lame to some of you, and falsely accusing people of scum leans as I've surely done probably didn't make me any friends here, but I didn't see another option. I just wrote what I was seeing. Anyway, I did say who my leading scum contender was, Serdoa, and evidently some people agreed with me during the day, enough that Rowain did what he did. So it isn't like I tried to dodge saying something useful. I just may not have been right on some of my reads (the lynch always tells the truth on that when factions are revealed) and uninformative on more of them. But not deliberately so.

RE: Lewwyn, yeah, I probably didn't use the right words. I don't know all the possible game states where having a killer on the loose could be good, bad, or otherwise. I'll take your word for it because I'm certainly no authority. But I think I'm right that at this stage of the game having someone out randomly (or thoughtfully but wrongly) killing people when there have to be more villagers than scum means there is a higher liklihood that Lewwyn's killing ends up being friendly fire, whether it's intentional or not. I think someone else spoke about this but I don't remember who it was now.

And it wasn't an attack against you, I just didn't really remember anything significant you had said (like Mattimeo), and I'll admit to skimming a lot of posts early this morning to get caught up to where I could even write what I did. It's certainly possible I missed some good information from you. If so, sorry about that, it's not intentional. This game contains a shocking amount of posts to read through, including this really long wall of text I'm writing now. Anyway, I agree I may as well have left off most of the No Read section since there wasn't a lot there, but as surely as I breathe if I had done that someone would have accused me of something for having omitted my thoughts on those players.

Preview edit: I just crossposted a lot of people but I'll have to catch up later, it's 7 PM and I'm going home. I'll hopefully be back online before deadline but, again, 45 minute commute plus dinner first.

Oh crap, I better do my public role before I drive home or Brick may be giving it to someone new for the second day in a row. lol

As Communications Officer I've been instructed by our Friend Computer to remind you all that you can't squeeze blood from a turnip, unless you happen to lynch it. Friend Computer further reminds you that turnips are for cooking and eating, not lynching. nod

Keeping up with the sheer volume of posts is definitely a bit of a task your first game. I had lurked and still wasn't prepared. As to the waiting while the bus rolls down hill, I wasn't advocating you not doing anything, I was saying that sticking your vote onto the other guy with the most votes and basically saying it can't be helped is perhaps not what you should be doing. Even if you lack time to build up a case on someone, vote someone you feel is suspicious. If you want people to move off of yourself and someone you consider villagery, voting onto the villagery guy is not helping to give them an alternative. I'm hoping you see how this can be perceived as scummy as opposed to an everything you do is wrong kind of thing.

Why did you feel it was necessary to give out a list of your leans on everyone in the game, especially if you didn't want to? It's not always the case, but very often in the past people posting unsolicited lists of their reads on everyone in the game have been scum. If you were being pressured to do so and I missed it I apologize.
