Maybe it wasn't the best argument, but on the chance that I wasn't reading him right and he was more scummy than I thought, that seemed better than going gently into the good night.

Quote:Even if you lack time to build up a case on someone, vote someone you feel is suspicious.

Done, in the same post when I named Serdoa as who I would want to vote for once I was out of the line of fire.

Quote:If you want people to move off of yourself and someone you consider villagery, voting onto the villagery guy is not helping to give them an alternative. I'm hoping you see how this can be perceived as scummy as opposed to an everything you do is wrong kind of thing.

I can see it for sure. But I looked at it like Old Harry was more scummy than myself (the unknown alignment versus known alignment argument). I think I was just bewildered by all the votes for me and didn't think I had done anything to deserve so many. As people have apparently received the information they wanted from me today, I get the impression (some have said it) that they put my name in the hat to spook a response out of me. Mission accomplished, kinda. I'd have said more along the way if I'd had anything I thought useful to contribute, and more time to do it.

Quote:Why did you feel it was necessary to give out a list of your leans on everyone in the game, especially if you didn't want to? It's not always the case, but very often in the past people posting unsolicited lists of their reads on everyone in the game have been scum. If you were being pressured to do so and I missed it I apologize.

I thought I didn't have a choice, Zak among others wanted info and it looked for all I knew that I was going to be lynched at the time. It's been well said already by a few people that I'm not saying anything informative or insightful, not for a lack of effort, so all I could give that was unique was my opinion on people. And I think it has been at least useful, I don't remember who now but someone said they agreed with one of the leanings I had. Well, maybe it's not useful, maybe that's confirmation we were both wrong, we'll find out I suppose.

(I'm not current on the thread since leaving work, catching up, hopefully before deadline).

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

Okay, most people who have opined don't want me to scrub Lewwyn, and I said I'd otherwise just get the person with the second-most votes, so-

I haven't read the last few pages, I'd like to say it's been a pleasure but it really hasn't.

My hidden role was Puppetter, last night I redirected Q to Serdoa.

I have an investigation power still to use. Does someone who knows what's going on want to request a target?

pic the player you least like other than novice, lewwyn or ryan. ryan is bad because we know his role vists--same with lewwyn. Novice is bad because he cannot move tonight.

Looks like Old Harry is going to hang no matter what. Last ditch chance to save him, because I think that he is more likely to be village than novice, and, more importantly, because I think that I can read him better than novice in the future, as I mentioned above: novice
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.
