Only that I doubt Gaspar et al took it over something else. I still think it's an outside chance at best that we found Confucianism.

Oh. Yeah, like I said, I was never expecting the oracle builder to take it anyway. But I still doubt we can be first, given our financial and organized opponents. Even if the other interested players go for currency first, they should have better tech rates. I agree there's still an outside chance. We don't know how involved every one of our competitors is in conflict with their neighbor.

Weirder things have happened.
I take it the next few builds are going to be military? I think we need at least 1 axe to the west.

Current priorities while growing are granary>impi. While stagnating: worker>settler. No ikhandas (even though they are a good deal) and no non-capital libraries, yet.
Why do you want an axe? Worried about the barbs getting bronze working any turn now? I was hoping we'd be able to get chariots by then, but the horses are in such inconvenient places, so it may not happen.

Yeah, barbs may actually get BW any turn now, because of the way barb tech rate is governed by everyone else getting techs. If the next city was planted with horse first ring I wouldn't care either way.

Put the impi (or a warrior/whatever) in the eastern most city onto the northern deer. That will barb bust every tile in that area apart from the tile 8899 of Making Money. Should save a bit of bother.

The reason I have the impi there is so we can't (as trivially) get boated by another player and lose the city. Next turn we'll have the workboat out and heading east though, and I'll consider the city safe at that point.

t75:
First barb axe!
I just stacked another whip unhappiness in HF, so whipping an axe there would be pretty painful. And ToT doesn't yet have a granary - in fact it's supposed to whip one next turn. So instead I'm just planning to chop an axe in ToT. If the barb heads SE next, it gets a bit more complicated and we defend the copper with a shock impi or two - they'll have odds. Otherwise there's no issue at all. Well, of course, other than the fact that we no longer have 97-100% odds in every barb fight, have to play more defensively, and will inevitably lose a unit or three. Horses would be really helpful but there's just no good spot by them.
Our workboat is out and exploring. As predicted, there seems to be a path through the islands to our east, as opposed to it being a solid continent.
I also realized I forgot to mention that an unknown person (but it's pretty clearly Mikehendi) got a great scientist, the turn before the oracle fell. So there's now a pretty high GNP out there.

On the bright side my dissertation is completed now. Just spending a bit of time tomorrow checking references and then it can fuck off to never be seen or heard from again (and if any lecturer wants to talk to me about it they can shag off). So hopefully this weekend I should be able to have a look at the game and then say nothing because you've got it all under control.
