WW 31 Game Thread PARANOIA

(January 23rd, 2014, 13:42)MJW (ya that one) Wrote: Why does it matter what lewwyn flips?

Serdoa visted lewwyn who didn't move. Unless mattimeo is a roleblocker it's unlikely lewwyn is scum who threw away a night-kill.

I am slowly catching up at the moment, but just while I see this - this is exactly what Lewwyn did in his vampire SK game. After being caught as a killer, he kept his urges in check until the very end of the game where he won with them.

I have not provided every detail pertaining to my role, nor do I have any intention of ever doing so. It's not like I revealed by choice- I have no idea why so many other people are just throwing their roles out there. Giving away specific details about my power is needlessly giving away information to anti-village factions. Suffice it to say that I have limited vig shots which I have not used yet. If I hang, you all will learn the exact nature of my power anyway; if I'm still in the game, preserving at least a little mystery about my role is to the village's advantage.

Having to kill with a MUCH higher chance to kill his own faction then those he should hunt? I wouldn't like that role particularly much and I can't believe anyone would. And that's why I have a hard time believing that BRick would put such a role in the game, because honestly I think the most important part for him is that we all have fun.

I think its fun. It wouldn't be without the extra lives system, because that's too much pressure, but as it is I think its a good role. I may be biased on account of the overdose of Happysation I took at the start of the game. smile

Before I post any further, I should say that I am going away in 10 hours for Australia Day weekend at the beach, back on Monday. I'll still be reading/posting/voting if I can, but not in detail. If people online now have specific questions, please send them my way now and I will answer today.

You need to reveal in full. Getting the lynch right trumps your role.

Also, what's your flavour?
I have to run.

novice, why is it that you are so insistent of everyone revealing their role? I don't see what any more info about Bobs role is going to achieve. I'll just repeat what I said several times now: There is a killer whom we know has killed -> Gazglum. Take his whole play and explain me what makes you so adamant in not believing that he is scum or SK. And if you believe he is either, why get other players to reveal more and more instead of simply lynching that guy?

I generally agree, but we have no guarantee that knowing his full role will help us determine his alignment. Furthermore, we have good reason to believe that he's a SK if anything, rather than a communist. Flavour would be nice to know though, and probably not give anything away. Should I reveal my own?

Sorry if this morning turns into a Wall of Glum, there's a lot to respond to.

First off, my claim. Yes, I was pushed to a degree by paranoia at Serdoa, as is only appropriate in this setting. But more directly, because people were asking specifically for the claim:

(January 23rd, 2014, 04:05)Rowain Wrote: b) So we have 3 hits. But neither Lewwyn nor Bob claim to be responsible for one of them? MJW was hit by a vig? I would ask the vig to step up and confess.

(January 23rd, 2014, 04:14)MJW (ya that one) Wrote: I agree with Rowain. That vig should confess. If he exits and did it.

And finally, because I didn't want to see Bob skate by on this one. It's role madness, so there's no reason not to think him a vigilante if nobody else claimed. I thought it pretty important information to say that there are reasons to doubt a straight-up uncomplicated vigilante role for him.

And yes, now he hints at other powers too which may well be true, but at the time he said 'I am a vig' and went to bed, and that's not good enough to convince me. It reads like someone playing for time.

Gazglum still managed to come across as someone caught red-handed with his own claim. I had a pretty strong feeling that Serdoa had tracked Gazglum, so I think he would have felt the same thing. In fact, he openly admitted to that, but still wants credit for claiming before Serdoa published his results.

So it feels a bit like the classic multi-faction scenario where we've actually caught multiple scum at the same time, from different factions, and they're all trying to argue for the "correct" lynch order.

Rowain, I agree that we do need to hear a proper claim from you, too. You kept repeating throughout day 2 that Serdoa should be one of the candidates on the block, and then had a very late and adamant change of heart. A more credible explanation is required. I don't think I will insist on hearing it today, though.

I agree with a lot of this. But I'm not a scum faction. I'm certainly not a communist - I knew Serdoa was a tracker, and that he was extremely suspicious of me. He reinforced that at the start of the Night Phase. If I was a communist I would have been a terrible person to send on the nightkill, because of the risk of being tracked.

I concede that I could be a compulsive serial killer not aligned with town, in which case I might have wanted Serdoa out of the way as quickly as possible. But if that were the case I think I could have played it a lot better than blindly rushing at Serdoa, then confessing my dark desires before being forced, thus making it exceedingly unlikely that I survive to Lylo. If you're a serial killer you go all the way or you go home.

Also, I should point out that even if you can't know my mind, you can know my deeds. I am happy to be pointed at targets the village think are scummiest each night. As long as I get my dose of shock therapy, I am a jive happy jive Troubleshooter. (Although there could be scum doctors which would make that harder to pull off).

catwalk, you should not have revealed at all, let alone give more information. And honestly, a SK will have some flavour anyway attached to his role and I believe that scum should be able to come up with some, it's not exactly hard to think of something.

Please explain in 200 words or less how revealing the exact nature of a vig power benefits the village more than the scum, because in this case I assure you it doesn't. Why the heck would learning how many shots I have, or how they work, make me look any more innocent- or guilty? The only point to asking me reveal is so that, if I survive, you and your scum buddies can decide whether eliminate or otherwise neutralize me, or make sure your fake role reveals won't contradict. Gosh, perhaps Catwalk and our dozen other vigs should do the same rolleye Except of course you won't demand that, since it'll make your malign intent even more obvious. Or Catwalk's also scum, whichever. Demanding people reveal every detail about their roles is just shamefully bad village play. Commie.
