WW 31 Game Thread PARANOIA

I have to agree with Rowain and Ichabod, even though I don't like it. Not only that several players didn't really play today at all, I also get the feeling that all our claims could actually be true - at least that would also explain why Ryan hit two nights in a row a target that can kill. I mean honestly, how likely is that? Even if we assume 4 scum remaining (Azza died D1 so Ryan could never hit him) and lets say 2 village vigs. Thats just 6 (5) players out of 18 (16). So combined ~10% chance to hit both nights a killer (I think, please check my math). Not impossible at all and obviously it happened, but it may as well indicate that we do have simply many more players that can kill. 4 scum + Lewwyn, Gazglum, Bob, catwalk (believing for a moment what they all stated) would amount to 8 players that can kill already. That would up his chance to a combined ~20% chance.

On the other hand, novice insistence (I've seen it in the preview) is at a point that really makes me believe that he is scum. novice, you - and everyone else imo - should already have gathered from all what was said what happened. Why do you need that statement?

See, the funny thing is, I'm not even sure that he is not a wolf. He might be, I don't have evidence in either direction. His request not to lynch me might be an elaborate plot to buddy up to me and make sure I'll keep him in high regard for the rest of the game. But that does seem very unlikely imo, not the least because it is build on the premise of me actually being around long enough. Of course, maybe he hoped I would die and he then could tell you all "Told you so", but again that seems unlikely, don't you think?

Give Experimental Body Armor to Rowain

And btw I will probably switch to Gazglum, because if not I'm certain he will kill me in the night.

Fine, I'll collaborate that if Gaz targeted Old Harry, he wouldn't have killed a clone.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Look, more evidence of Serdoa being a villager because he gave a protective item to a villager! This all presumes that you all know that Rowain is a villager of course, but since he vouched for Serdoa being a villager he must be a villager too nod

Serdoa, can I have a Laptop of Omniscience tomorrow if I suggest that we don't hang you until, say day 9?

lol

I wonder if any of the items do the opposite of what you'd expect. That's pretty standard for Paranoia, I think.

And I'm switching to Gazglum. He and novice top my Bad List.

Well I think the lurkers are going to come out of this day looking pretty bad no matter who flips what, really. Even if we have a SK on the block, it's very possible that the communists are sitting back, like you say. And every townie ought to have an opinion on who should hang today, but there are some who are just lurking and apparently waiting to see which way it all swings before committing to anything. So even if we have a commie on the block, the lurking is highly suspicious.

You could argue that we should just skip straight to lynching a lurker, then, but it would be nice to resolve the Bob/Gaz conflict. Maybe we could have Bob roleblock Gaz and promise not to use one of his own kills, and lynch a lurker instead. And then do a mass claim tomorrow, trying to tie up the loose ends. I'm not so sure if that is wise, because they have two lives each, which means we'll probably have to use a future lynch to resolve it anyway, but it's an option. Then again, they might redeem themselves in some way, or maybe their claims will end up looking more credible after a mass claim. In any case, if we want an immediate resolution to Bob/Gaz, I will play the odds and stay on Gaz.

About Novice, I don't think he is wrong to be questioning you, but like I said, I can personally wait another day before I demand any more information. So I guess it could be an attempt to distract us. In any case, I don't think Novice deserves to hang today, considering the competition. He's been sticking his neck out today, taking firm stances, and isn't playing just to survive (or at least, that's not the impression I get).

Hmmm, cross-posting with Merovech. I guess that shifts the balance a bit towards lynching Bob instead.

I'll think about it; I have something else to do right now.
If you know what I mean.

Bob could roleblock Gazglum and I could inspect Bob. We would then know for sure if he goes anywhere, and make use of my new mediocre bonus ability.

Not sure why that needed corroboration. Gaz would have been stupid to lie about his targets anyway.

Catwalk, Bob's scrub action would probably trigger a positive on your investigation.
I have to run.

novice that wouldn't be a compromise it would be you getting your will which won't happen.

I guess that's possible, but I think it's far more likely that scrubbing is a day action. It's an action which is triggered during the day and takes effect during the night.

Rowain, it's very much a compromise. Noone is asking you to reveal your role or ability, there could be all manners of reasons why you'd have information about Serdoa. The longer you keep dodging the issue, the longer you have to piece together an explanation that matches subsequent events. I don't think it's pro-town to give you that privilege, given that we really don't know your alignment.
