Did your Oxford build complete already? I thought you needed your stone for that.
[SPOILERS] Scooticator and Pindooter give a sporting try

Logged in to try to figure out that exact answer. Looks like pindicator actually rejected it. So I guess he's thinking we offer it next turn..?
We actually have two stones, but we're already trading one to Old Harry for Silver. Granted, 32gpt is more valuable than silver, so we can always cancel that. But yes, I'm firmly in favor of taking that WLP offer. If for no other reason than he WILL get stone from somebody throwing around offers like that, so I'd like us to be the ones getting paid.
Well, good news and bad news.
I guess I didn't hit accept for that stone deal I put a picture of? I swore i hit accept, but it's not showing as an active deal, and we don't have the gold. So despite my best attempt, I ended up not sabotaging the Oxford plan and it's still due at end of turn.

Turn 165, Part 2
So no stone for WilliamLP, but that wouldn't have saved this city anyway: Are we okay with Ichabod taking over that entire continent? He's quite a ways behind in tech, so I think I am okay for now. Here's a picture of our eastern islands. In 2 turns we get to decide if that missionary is going towards the new city of RedBlacks, out east for Seahawks, or following or newest settler out of Red Wings (which I assume is going for one of our island filler locations). I circled a galley that's showed up by Seahawks -- I don't know if there have been many visitors from that direction, but Bacchus is finally sniffing around. And then down south, there's this random shot: Anything that lurkers want to see? These are relatively quiet turns. I suppose I could update the tech chart again. Speaking of which, i decided to sneak in Meditation at 50%. There'll be enough overflow to get Economics in 2 turns -- Oxford will add about 100bpt to our total. So revolt to Free Market on t168.

Missionary to RedBlacks for sure, need culture on the border.
Any chance you could figure out the approximate number of land tiles for everyone?
Civilization IV: 21 (Bismarck of Mali), 29 (Mao Zedong of Babylon), 38 (Isabella of China), 45 (Victoria of Sumeria), PB12 (Darius of Sumeria), 56 (Hammurabi of Sumeria), PB16 (Bismarck of Mali), 78 (Augustus of Byzantium), PB56 (Willem of China)

That Bacchus galley has been hanging around for a couple turns now. He has no reason to come up there - he should be moving south on Dhalphir, and he already knew that city was there via map trades I'm pretty certain. So I'm kinda eh on that. I think we're fine though. If he's dumb enough to screw around with a circumnav-Viking civ that's an era ahead of him, that's his funeral.
Eagerly looking forward to Oxford + FM.
Jumped in at lunch to do a post-Oxford and international update. So the good news:
Oh hey that's first in GNP. Maybe we're making progress. Hm, mackoti has tech on too. That's good rig- oh no. Ok cool, still screwed . And your international news all in one tidy screenshot: Recap: 1) Commodore has a GG stashed away. Let's keep that in mind. We've been burned by that before. 2) Azza got a GG. So he's at least winning some battles. 3) Why can't people use normal civ names? There's no way on earth I'm keeping track of who in the world "Tarquin" is in an 18 player game. Life is too short. 4) Old Harry made peace with suttree. Hm, I feel like I'm missing something. 5) Oh right, mack captured an Old Harry city...!!! Civstats sure made it look like a raze, so I'm a little confused as to why it says capture. I'm sure one of you lurkers will point out the blindingly obvious things that I'm missing any time now. Anyway, my first impression is that this is more bad news for us. However, after thinking on it, I think it may not be so bad. Old Harry made peace with suttree, so his attention is not divided between two fronts right now. Losing his city may piss him off quite a bit too, and the best we can hope is that it becomes a costly battle for mackoti and not yet another aggressive move that goes unpunished. Mackoti basically just did what we decided not to do to Azza/Lewwyn (snipe a city and risk unsettling the bee's nest when we have bigger fish to fry). It'll be interesting to see if he gets burned the way we've been trying to avoid. If history means anything, very likely not. |
