Why didn't you check to see if the iron was hooked before sending knights to it?

I see you. edit: just realized thats a dupe picture. I moved the knight to the forest tile and azza is circling around through the territory. apparently didn't take enough naval pictures, take myw ord for it.

the galley closer to our mainland is also running away, forcing me to pursue.

But this:

not really sure what Azza is thinking. 8 knights and 5 horse archers can hit anywhere relevant, but the massive stacks of cats and the elephants can't hit anything! the cats are much more dangerous right now than the knights. this is 90% of his army - he only has 3 longbows and 2 axes in rose atm.

so he's daring me to take Sarah Jane, I guess, so I took his bait.

infastructure sucks. at least it won't be in revolt long.

well he won't be able to hit Sarah Jane this turn. minimal reinforcements streaming in.

finally did this:

no point in bringing all the maces as only the 2 movers can hit the stack - the pikes are enough defense.

after this road is complete I'd like to also move and road the forest tile connecting Sarah Jane to Bacon! when it comes out of revolt my culture should fill the road tile there so his Cats can't hit that tile. But combat workers could change that, maybe its not safe, we'll see.

cats and remaining maces are holed up in Bacon! atm. 5 knights in the area are a few spaces back so they can hit the hill, if necessary, or move quickly to the sarah jane front if he moves his cats closer there.

I'd like to move 6-8 knights at some point over to Raiders to invade Clara. not sure when I'll be able to do this. for the next few turns I'll be reacting to Azza - but building more units, and slowly get my navy into position to take the islands from him. Your move, Azza.

would it be inappropriate of me to pm Azza asking him to try and play sooner? I've got like a 4-5 hour window (like 6-11pm, but would prefer to play soon). game keeps getting pushed back a bit, and Azza seems to plan his turn by how much is left on the timer rather than a certain time, so I'm afraid he'll play after I have to go to bed one day this week and I'll have to force a pause for another 18 hours or so frown. Maybe tonight (its 9:30 here).

ay de mi. pretty sure I almost made a big mistake.

I almost held my ground. Little bit bored, little bit feeling the pressure to finish the war and start rebuilding. I literally was ready to push enter and roll the turn before I realized 16 catapults was a fucking lot. all units would heal but 1 mace and 1 cho-ku, but even w/ a anti-cat promotion on the elephant and 2 cho-kus with city guard, I think Azza could have wiped the stack losing only 6 cats or so. Not enough for me to make ground in other areas. I did send all my knights towards this region (7), but 5 could reach sarah Ann next turn, but not far enough to hit any injured cats frown. other 2 were even a turn behind those.

anyway i retreated everything but one C1 pike to the hill 2 turns up (where cats can't reach). I'll be reaction to Azza's move again. if he puts a token force in sarah ann, I'll keep this up until I have enough knights to flank his cats. if he retreats back south I'll move into sarah ann again (lucky the city can't go below size 1 hehe). if he moves a large army in I'll move on Rose. also a good chance I move knights over towards Clara soon. I'm producing knights every where I can. I can produce knights faster than Azza can produce cats, so I'll break him eventually.

annoying still, but relieved to see this galley break away from my mainland.

sucks. once I build a city east of Craig we'll have a fairly close border to Plako.

5 turns were up, so i revolted back to slavery and took advantage of it. I'll probably be back and forth between slavery and caste for awhile.

We discovered printing press at EOT, which was an immediate boost to the economy, yay. I'm starting on gunpowder, but will be saving up cash for a bit. Banking is cheaper, but I can't build banks for a bit, and once I can still have grocers to build everywhere and courthouses in many cities, which will achieve the same purpose. Can't wait for this war to be over.

12 turns until I can start invading Azza's islands to the SW of his mainland. too long frown

At some point you will have to try and flank all his cats. IE: Set up that same scenario except with more knights and then just ram all your knights into his stack and flank away his cats.

yeah thats the plan. I had 2 C2 knights in the stack that could have hit his elephants at 66% odds. not enough to do any serious flanking damage there though. I've stopped future cho-ku productiont of focus on knights every where I can - approxiamtely 5-6 every 3 turns (so it shouldn't take too long), plus stables in the capital and future HE city, and barrackss in lots of places. I should eventually hae enough knights to take him off guard somewhere and do just that.

Also w/ that many knights once I break rose and martha I can sweep through his 3 mainland backfill cities fairly easily.

It feels like there's going to be cat and mouse for awhile, then once he finally breaks he'll fall very quickly like a house of cards.

Azza continues to suprise me wink

we still own Sarah Ann. Azza has played his turn, so it will come out of revolt before he gets another turn.

His stack of knights and cats has disappeared from my vision. I moved units to narrow down its location to 1W or 1SW of the worker. same deal, knights and HA can still hit most anywhere but cats can only hit sarah ann.

Im not going to finish the turn tonight, need sleep and it won't speed up the turn rolling anyway.

I see two options - I can move the eastern stack to road the forest between Bacon! and Sarah Ann, giving me more flexibility to combine the stacks if needed (maybe moving 1-2 more pikes into sarah ann). Or I can move it towards Rose, forcing Azza to retreat his stack to Rose and defend his capital allowing me to secure Sarah Ann permanently.

Lewwyn what do you think? It'll be another 17 hours or so before I play the turn.

If its not clear from the pictures - if I move on Rose he will have to retreat his cats south. they will take 2 turns to hit my stack so if he doesnt move back next turn I can easily raze his capital.

I think I still favor the road option. I still need time to build more knights and having a direct path between the two fronts will make it easier to outmaneuver Azza.
