What were you planning to build in Vacuuming after the granary? The granary finishes just before the city grows, so you could build a worker (or even a settler) for a turn to delay growth until a unit can arrive. Or just live with a turn of unhappiness, if you don't want to use avoid growth.

Turn 51
I lucked into a buddhism spread in Washing Dishes! Makes semi-early monastery and state conversion a more appealing option. I think I'll just let the city grow and then start on a worker, since unhappy citizens don't eat food while producing a settler or worker. Here are some disappointing demographics:
Turn 52
Groceries has been founded, and Washing Dishes has been renamed to Dishes to keep things simple. Another demo shot after founding:
Free spread, very nice.
![]() The demos are a mixed bag. You are at the average for food even though shown as 9th, and are solidly above the averages for hammers and GNP. Land area is also looking decent. Population is a bit of a concern, but the new city growing should help some with that. What are you building in the capital after the settler, and in the new city? Vacuuming is finishing its granary, what is next there?
Capital is finishing a granary in a few turns, then it will start on another settler. Vacuuming will build a worker, then an axeman.
Turn 53
Approaching Nakor's capital, found its location through border expansion:
In other news, it looks like the WCC has been doing dastardly things to my empire while I was at work:
You will definitely need Sailing to get trade routes with Nakor. (You would also need Open Borders from Writing, although you can get a resource trading connection without OB.) You then also need a clear coastal/river/road/combination path to his territory, which it looks like you are pretty close to having. I am not certain about needing to have visibility on his capital -- I know I have gotten trade routes to cities I can not see, but I am not sure if you need to be able to see one city of that civ first.

The trade routes thing is always a headache to figure out because I don't think I have all the requirements nailed down. But I think settling your deer city and putting a road north of it to connect it to your river (which connects to your capital) will be enough, once you get Sailing to get the trade network extended to Nakor's territory...assuming he has a road/river/coastal connection to one of his cities.
