really feel bad for the black sword. First he took over the ridiculous religion heavy start from Jowy, but seemed to turn it around. But then he got eaten up by 3 of the big 4 powers at once - he was at war w/ dtay, mackoti, and scooter simeltaneously. really didn't stand a chance.


Here Scooter is making me paranoid. why are you building trebechuts? WHY? cats signal just wanting to defend your borders in case I got aggressive for some reason. Trebs signal offense.

I've calmed down a bit since they all seem to be evacuating west towards TBS islands, but TBS isn't long for the world and I'm still a bit worried what Scooter is going to do w/ those trebs afterwards. I will be until I'm spitting out rifles, I guess.


I tested Scooter by asking for a map trade while we were both logged in. he accepted immediately. here I can only see 3 cities for TBS. 2 have been taken by Scooter since. I can't be sure since I don't have contact w/ TBS, but I think he only has 1 city left. he'll be dead soon. Suttree died the next turn after this picture, so that just leaves Azza.

once TBS dies, I'm hoping mackoti having a city on this island forces Scooter into further conflict w/ him. or else he turns against Bacchus again, also a possibility.

urgh. this happenned on Azza's turn, so I guess Plako offered him a deal. the maintenence on this city was probably a bitch for Azza. initially I was annoyed I wasn't going to get whales, but it may be a blessing in disguise. the logistics of getting a navy over here was going to be difficult, and now the galley and trieme I had slotted for that can move west and speed up the capture of those islands. it probably makes me more vulnerable to plako, though. I have taken eps off Azza (no point anymore) and onto Plako. he has none on us so I'll be able to get research visibility. then probably graphs on mackoti and graphs on commodore (who annoyingly has 150 eps on us). at some point when Im close to rifles I'll crank them up on Scooter. I don't want to play an aggressive hand against him while I still feel vulnerable.

Scooter has a much lighter military on the commodore border, from what I can tell. Here you can see why. Commodore doesn't even have roads connecting the two on his side, whereas we are pretty much interwoven due to the conflicts with Nakor and Azza.

I finally just finished him off.


working some micro here. by using the GS and upping research to 60%, I can finish education in 2 turns. once done I will go to max tax and build half price unis wherever I can. in 2 turns I will finish another bank and my first grocer in capital. in 3 turns I'll finish bank in BaconBacon (which has been detoured by building a workboat and missionary). I should be able to pump out 5-6 unis fairly quickly. im one turn away from replaceable parts, but ill wait to finish that until I turn on research, and overflow and speed through riflling (I want to finish rifling asap after I have replaceable parts).
currently rifling costs 16 turns at 50% and 8 turns at 100%, I'm hoping to cut that down to 6 with unis and overflow, and general city growth (I'm not going back to slavery for awhile).


there was a naval battle near wilfred on turn 177, as you can see. he returned his galley and trieme from the south, and just marched into dangerous territory. I guess he had no other use for the navy. my caravel won at 77% and promoted to C1 and will take 3 turns to heal back in friendly culture. my first trieme lost at 77% odds vs the galley . no matter, I still have 2 galleys, 2 triemes and a caravel over there, and another galley and trieme en route (7 turns or so).



azza netted the fish, heh. he had some hammers into a 2nd workboat for the crabs, which I was going to let him net before pillaging them both again. I guess he changed his mind though and switched back to the musket. likely the caravel will pillage the fish again once it heals.

economy looking much better. just 3 banks (in capital, shrine city, and one other) have taken me from 38%ish breakeven to 52%ish breakeven. should be over 60-65% breakeven in a few turns as more roll off .

Maybe we should signal fealty or something to Scoopin. Like gift them all of our extra resources and declare war on TBS to show we'll wardec anyone they do.

We cant Dow on tbs, we havent made contact with him. I can do the extra resources thing though if you think that will abate them. as long as they dont interpret tha as license to demand certain cities...

Really its irrelevant once we have rifles. Ill beat them to rifles. But i. Still 11 to 13 turns away :/

Edit: im not declaring war on mackoti along with them and they certainly wont need our help with bacchus.

so apparently this happenned: the black sword sold 3 cities to mackoti.

I don't know exactly whats going on, it has something to do w/ the war between mackoti and scooter. the whole thing doesn't make any sense to me, I guess global lurkers will have a better grasp of it.

FWIW, Brick, I don't think its kosher. I didn't think so when Dhalphuir gave a city to Azza, but it wasn't worth making a fuss as neither Dhal or Azza are relevant in this game anymore and its jut one more city for me to capture (eventually). This is different, I kind of feel like it violates the "don't be a dick" rule. I can't imagine TBS got enough to justify losing 3 cities in the deal so its probably spite motivated. and its making the game too easy for mackoti.
thats my 2 cents, maybe bring it up in the lurker thread for lurkers to discuss.

I just read this. For what it's worth, I sold that city for a lot of gold, among other things to other players, and those deals collectively financed four longbow upgrades from archers, so it wasn't a gift.

TBS didn't take over India, he played from the beginning. I just stopped playing at some point due to time constraints
And I can assure you that he thought that selling those cities was a good gameplay move. It was not out of spite. He might not be right, but his intentions were pure.

haha, cheers. dhal, that was pure emotion, I was frustrated (as I always am fighting Azza) that I couldn't clean him up quicker and easier. I was frustrated when I had to conquer and extra city and then frustrated again when he sold it to Plako and I didn't get to conquer that extra city. haha.

anyway I trust Brick, he woulda stepped in if there was anything shady, I think.

ok, this is why I journeyed the knight north to Canada. Commodore does indeed have rifles. this is a bit of a comfort. Not only is the only civ in the game with rifles, he's the only one that even has replaceable parts yet! If I'm Pindicooter, I don't want to extend myself with a bloody war to the south when my I'm rocking knights and beserkers and my northern neighbor has rifles. OTOH, if I see my southern neighbor shooting for rifles too I might panic and try to quash him to avoid being surrounded by them. thats why I'm being coy and saving up cash while building universities, to rush into rifling asap after discovering replaceable parts.


ugh. plains village is 4 turns from becoming a town and azza is turning it into a workshop. he just has the one worker (that he built after I captured his last 2) - I really hope he doesn't start doing to his grassland towns.

Pindicator rejected the deal. Not sure what to make of that. but I see no signs of aggression, all quiet on the northern front atm.

ahh, thats comforting. Those two wars must have occured while Lewwyn was playing, I didn't even realize they had been at war. also they don't have open borders. surely there is some paranoia there .

I'll take Azza's only Christian city in 2 turns, though, so this vote can't come up again until Azza is eliminated.



when I can finish turn 190 (azza hasn't played yet) I think I'll be asking for some loans. Pindicator, for sure . ill ask for 1k from him, 1k from commodore, 500 from other people, maybe. what is a fair interest rate?

atm I'm producing ~550 cash at max tax, pindicator is producing 800. capital finishes a uni in 3 turns, two others finish in 4 turns. not sure any others were finish in time to be relevant.
of note: Pindiscooter finished theology this turn :/
