Everybody knows that this huge game is just a pretext for the final battle between the evil genius Krill and the charming champion of the people Darrell. Our game plan will be entirely focused on conquering this menace and getting the Civ world rid of its foulness.

I'm betting Commodore is basing his map on the Middle Earth and he's preplacing Krill in Mordor.

So, we discussed things briefly yesterday. We are going to keep our combo of João of HRE. The theory is actually pretty synergistic, expand fast with fast workers and settlers and build discounted markets/grocers + powered courthouses to keep the economy afloat. That's basically what we'd want to do anyway, but we get several boosts while doing it, which is nice.

HRE has hunting/myst. It's decent due to the changes to hunting in RBMod, so I don't think we should worry much about it. Besides, we'll open with a settler build while going for Buddhism, so we won't be needing food techs that much. Right, Darrell?

We'd like a SPI leader, but it's too random to just reroll our picks. We got a decent hand, in my opinion, so better to just stick with it.

I feel good about our chances here. I think PB13 taught me some important lessons and I won't be making the same mistakes again. We just need to cook a decent sandbox, which will actually be a bit of a chore to do, considering the settings.

I don't see the need for much preplanning, because we'd spend the rest of the year talking about opponents, civs and leaders. We can discuss the relevant issue of a naming scheme. Darreell suggested a football theme and I think it can be a good idea. As strange as it may seem, I'm not very fond of Pele - his personality annoys me and he played for a club I don't like much here in Brazil (Santos). As an example of things I don't like about him, the Brazilian Confederation of Football changed the national club rankings a few years ago, which was a ranking based on the results of all the previous Brazilian Leagues and Cups, to include Leagues and Cups from before 1971 (the year of the first "Campeonato Brasileiro" - Brazilian Championship). They did it just so Pele could be considered like 10 times champion of Brazilian Football Leagues, because all his titles were from before 1971. The problem is, these competitions that happened before 1971 didn't have clubs from all places in Brazil (like from my state, Rio Grande do Sul), but just from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo (and a few others) - so, they weren't National Leagues, it was more similar to Regional ones. But, to cover Pele in undeserved glories, they changed this Regional Leagues to count as National Leagues. As a consequence of this, a bunch of clubs (Palmeiras, Santos - all from São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro) passed my favorite club (Gremio, from Rio Grande do Sul), which was previously number 1 in the ranking. Pele's political annoyance was behind this, obviously - the guy is always trying to remember everyone that he's without a doubt the one true best player.

Recently, the Confederation changed the ranking criteria again, basing it only on the last 5 years (so the ranking will change a lot from now on). This placed my favorite club yet again on the number 1 spot. Even though we haven't lift a cup in more than 10 years. (but we had quite a bit of 2nd, 3rd and 4th places).

And just to be clear, when it refers to Football, I'm as biased as it can be. No objective analysis is to be expected.

I was excited to read that the "known tech bonus" will work in a different way in the mod. So, I went to read the RBMod thread...
