Played the turn, 2 important things:
I've sped up Feudalism to arrive a turn early via starving some cities (not a lot of starving, just a little friendly hunger) with scientist specialists. So we're getting it next turn, 1 turn before Gore gets guilds.
This means we've got a few turns before he starts sending the knights to get longbows into the field. I've built barracks in most cities in anticipation, since most all of our available units will be useless against knights. The cities that had them are building cats.
We can get MC soon enough, but after that our tech rate will be a little slower. Maybe we can appeal to the gods of Seven/Krill to provide us with assistance in some form.
But hey, if we can survive this and hold on to our land, jans are just around the corner
I still don't know what we're going to do to kill knights that he fields, engineering's a long way off. I hate that aspect of civ's warfare, the counter-units aren't available till long after they're actually useful. Well, just pikes anyway, there's no way to counter a knight rush than holing up in walls + cg1/2 promo LBs and hoping he's dumb enough to not raid and cripple you.
Oh yeah, the second thing. Gore's been running the EP slider against us, so we've lost research visibility for the first point in a long time. He's got ours for sure, so he knows we'll have longbows waiting. My guess is that he's going to strike vulnerable undercity, so that + draenor, orgrimmar and Kalimdor are our focal points for longbows.

It honestly depends on whether his current war is to finish us off or to cripple us and come back with rifles. If it's the former, holing up in cities will grind his units down and make us a very tough target. If it's the latter, he could wander around for a dozen turns, pillage us to the stone age, and we would only just be recovering when he got rifles.

I edited and added the EP addendum.
Yeah, I completely agree with that. he can pick off our weaker coastal villages probably pretty easily, since we're going to forced to concentrate resources to beat the impending knights.
This depends on his mindset, if he's smart, he'll wreck us and leave us. If not, he'll try to wipe us out now. Of course, if he tries to come back with rifles, the game will have progressed to such a state that the friendly neighbourhood zulu will be wanting to keep any duel island from unifying. That could work out in our favour in the form of military or resource assisstance, or they could swoop in and destroy in a campaign against Gore.
Depends on the other islands and how they're doing, but for Seven/Krill to win this they need to stop the other islands from ever coming close to their huge land advantage, and that's what I'm banking on right now. Rather, that Gore knows this too and will try to tilt us rather than be prudent. It's all or nothing baby, everything's coming down to the wire. If we roll over and die here, the ultimate game will get a lot more interesting. Fuck that noise

Another thing, we can throw all our eggs in one basket and churn out a GS, research paper, bulb education and go for gunpowder. And get jans all up in his grill.

I can't help but notice the lurker thread's had like 80 replies since this morning. And I've been thinking no one on RB cares about this game. Hasn't the Bantams-Gavagai SNFUBAR (for added emphasis) been resolved? Am I missing something here, or is our game competitive again? Has the Mike/Seven war been really hot without any city exchanges?
WHO KNOWS*?!

Having read the PB13 lurker thread, during times where I thought they were furiously discussing the game, it turns out they were discussing kittens.

That helps soothe my raging paranoia I suppose.
Why don't we have our own discussion of kittens? Draw some lurkers into the thread (and never let them leave)
