As I alluded to in the tech thread, apparently that stack of knights is now going to double move and capture the capital because Dhalphir played out of turn. Probably not making a big difference though.

* In the stream, I proposed peace to yuri. Idea is to propose OB and then use our two circumnavigation-hopefuls to reveal as many of his cities as possible. I did it now because if we get circumnav, that could clue him in that we have units in the area, maybe. Well, I logged in again to fix a mistake, and lo, he had accepted peace. I proposed OB. * He also revolted into Nationhood! This is strange, because we expected him to finish Taj in like 5t (enabling a free swap) if he was going for it, or revolt earlier if he wasn't. So what's going on? Anyway, we have a higher chance at Taj now, and it's probably worth trying to slowbuild. And if we get vision of his capital as per the hopes above, that's really helpful for this. * The error I logged in to fix was in Jingo. We do get two turns of pacifism in Jingo as I had previously planned, not just one. So I fired specs so we'd have more food available.

We might get circumnavigation!  Goreripper is ripping Hashoosh into pieces. I'm choosing not to pillage with the impi, because I want best possible relations with Gore.  Moai being built. It's kind of our only coastal city with production.  Forbidden Palace will go here after a 2-whip of the courthouse.  Great person due in 2t. Engineer please? IIRC it's an 18.75% chance. Merchant is also fine; artist is a bummer.  We'll get a merchant from here later; just getting started while we have the civics for it. One of the specialists doesn't fit in the interface, haha! GNP at breakeven.  GNP history. Our spike isn't really visible yet because it's still showing a turn where we were at 0%.  Other players are currently saving gold, which contributes to our GNP lead, I guess. But the reason I think we're ahead there is because our own gpt when at 0% is ~280.  Population is looking good.  Gore's territory is pretty heavily whipped for those knights. His economy is about to balloon back though.  
Offered OB and a free gold resource to Yuri but he declined, so it doesn't look like we are getting OB with him, sadly. He responded with OB for our world map, which is a joke offer. Oh well.
Next steps are twofold. 1) Get nationalism + machinery so we can draft 5t of maces and modernize our defenses. 2) Get printing press, which will be worth a lot of commerce. At that point I will be very happy with our position, and there are two main ways to continue next. One is to head for rifling with the idea of conquering some of the kuro/wetbandit continent. (We'd probably attack mostly north, and maybe partly south, against Kuro.) The other is to go to democracy for statue of liberty + fantastic civics. There is also some need to pick up techs like construction, engineering, and the naval line either way. Right now I'm thinking we'd go for a fairly quick democracy. But we don't have to decide yet. |
