Sounds good re: Buddha.
We should go for the triple crown, if we nab all 3 religions first, We will earn infinite money.

Annnyway, I popped the hut.
Um. Well, that makes Buddhism first not hurt nearly as bad!
And, makes dotmapping plausible. How do you feel about this as a city site? Needs a border pop to be great rather than tolerable, but we ought to have a religion that's eager to spread itself. Remember that RBMod hunting unlocks sheep/pigs/cows, while furs and deer aren't unlocked until Animal Husbandry.
Biggest problem I see is it can't really work cottages for the capital. But 2 food and some coast ought to be pretty good for whipping out workers and settlers with minimal investment required. And with tech as expensive as it is, I don't know that we'll be getting other food techs or roads unlocked by the time we're ready to settle.
I'm sure it's partly wait-and-see, maybe the fog holds something even better.

Also, let me know if/when you're ready to play some of the turns. I'm going to assume I'm responsible for Spain until you tell me otherwise.

Little bit more scouting info in the past two turns.
I keep meaning to sandbox this and keep being distracted by real life chores. Any lurkers want to volunteer to build us a sandbox?
Anyway, we do need to decide on our next tech sometime in the next week or so. I think we probably ought to head toward granaries, which would mean IIRC Agri, Wheel, Pottery. Bronze would be likely the best alternate path, Mining-Bronze

Our borders also popped IBT, revealing a bunch more tiles:
Including one with a hut on it
I debated for a minute whether it was worth moving through visible land to get there faster, or if we should continue scouting fog and wait. Ended up deciding not to gamble, so we ought to be able to pop the hut next turn. Can come back and scout later, but if someone steals the hut, it's gone forever.

So, we have a hut to pop...
Well. I like the RNG so far!
We also scouted a couple more tiles:
And I discovered something very distressing. It seems that the city governor likes fur better than fish, and overrode my orders - presumably at the border pop. I can't quite make the math work for which turn we changed, but we can't get Meditation any faster by going back to the Fish. We're at 88/138 beakers, and I can't figure out how to make that add up out of 14's and 12's. I think we lost a turn in there somehow and might not have Buddhism guaranteed anymore ![banghead banghead](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/banghead.gif) . But switching to the Fur seems better at this point, might as well speed along the workboat if it doesn't slow things down.
Hmm, although it does add up smoothly with 15's and a 13 at the end. Maybe the free beaker isn't actually accounted for anywhere except in the very end? If that's so, then the mistake might not actually hurt us, as we couldn't have gotten there faster. It might still mean non-guaranteed Buddhism as it throws off my whole analysis. But we're committed at this point.
Anyway, working the Fur. If you figure out what I did wrong and want me to swap back to the lake I will.
And in totally unrelated news: apparently we somehow managed to get 33 civs to play their turn in 12 hours! I find this shocking, but delightful.

On reflection, I'm convinced this is what happened. Good news: inattention did not cost a turn on Buddhism. Bad news: This means anyone with a 2-commerce tile and Mysticism can tie us, rather than it being guaranteed by Fin/fishing like I thought. We probably should have gone Hindu, but it's too late now. Just got to hope the Byzantines aren't trying for Buddhism, I guess, or that we win the toss if they are - and that no one else has something like riverside furs or an oasis.

Well, we only got half a tech for free this time.
Really need to swing north next. That's where it looks green, so therefore where we're most likely to find an awesome city 2 site.
Need to pick our next techs. I see three reasonable options:
Agri-Wheel-Pottery. Use our wheat, unlock our half-price granaries, and in general grow up fast
Wheel - Pottery Wheat's 'only' 4/0/1, is that really worth this much time teching this early? (probably, especially when it saves time on Pottery). But it would get our granary up faster. OTOH, early granary coming in without slavery, right when we'd be looking at worker and settler production, might not actually help
Mining - Bronze: slavery's always nice. As is knowing where to go for security.
I guess after analysis I favor Agri-Mining-Bronze, then return for Wheel-Pottery. Granary can wait since we'll be rexxing and don't have the whip, but food needs to come first regardless. Your thoughts?
Anyway, now we wait and find out if we're religious or not. Also need to decide, there, when to revolt to Buddhism if we get it.
