Quote:Dear DMOC,
I appreciate your assumption of confidentiality, and I will not share any part of our letters unless explicitly told to. Likewise, anything I tell you should be kept confidential unless I say otherwise.
In any case, I believe that a Peace Treaty will be worked out between the Empire and the Koreans next turn. I misinterpreted their recent actions as an intent to attack, and decided to strike the first blow. We should be able to normalize relations soon.
I am directly to the east of the Koreans. You will have to travel north around our territories to continue.
As for your last question, I am not LiPing. A ploy such as the one you mention would be rather crafty, but I'm not sure if it would serve great purpose. As far as I know, LiPing does not intend to resume command of the Empire when she returns, though I cannot say for certain until she does.
Best regards,
Whosit, Galactic Emperor
So he is directly east of Korea. Interesting.
I have yet to compose a response. Should I?

News from Kalin/Athelete of the Ottomans:
Quote:Dear DMOC/Nakor,
The Byzantines are now down to 1 city though with Archers vs. Chariots will probably be around for a little while longer.
Thanks very much for your support!

I suppose this is a good thing (?) as the Ottomans are friendly with us now. Of course, it's so early in the game that things could change radically in the future.
I also did not compose a response for this.

Resonse to Whosit's last message 2 posts above. Wanted to ask him about open borders.
Quote:[COLOR="Orange"]Dear Whosit,
Thank you for our mutual confidentiality agreement. =]
Hopefully our exploring warrior (who is at the northern Korean border) can scout and meet your civilization in person. In case you're wondering, we are directly west of the Koreans.
Do you have any ideas on open borders agreements? I have not checked the game recently so I don't know if you have Writing or not, but we will be getting Writing soon, so OB are a possibility. I doubt the usefulness of them this early in the game, but it's always something to think about.
Sincerely,
DMOC for the DMOC/Nakor team for HRE.

Played part of the next turn.
After Dantski moves his warrior east we can move our settler into position and find our third city next turn.
Will you start negotiations with Dantski, or shall I?
Most thing will take 3/4 turns to accomplish. Workers are connecting the cities.

I am afraid that the Empire has not yet mastered Writing, though it is on our to-do list. We will consider the possibilities of Open Borders in the future. As you say, it will probably not be a major issue until more of the land is filled in.
Best regards,

I'll check the game and move the settler in position.

Is it safe to go? Still ~10 hours on the clock.
By the way, do you plan growing Rolan to size 4 or 5 before another worker or settler? We need to get settlers and workers out (we are lagging behind in development).

Safe to go I'd say!
Only IAmjohn still to play and he isn't even close!
I think growing to 4 makes the production way better, so we can do a settler/worker after growth to 4, then grow to 5 and another settler? Whip again?
But a few axes will give us a city as well...
Edit: Ended the turn!

What's your (or the lurkers) suggestion about getting more workers/settlers?

Plako
Quote:Dear DMOC and Nakor,
I suggest 10 turns of NAP cool down time.
Concerning Whosit we see that he'll have Iron Working and possibility for Praetorians in 2 turns. We'll have 10 turns of enforced peace ahead of us, but after that no pact will be hindrance to him. This will be problematic, since we don't have currently access to metal to build axes. We have plans to overcome this, but meanwhile we're seeking other solutions to the problem.
What is your intrest level to sell us Axes to be available within next 10 turns? We could produce at least Workers/Archers/Chariots for you. Depending on the terms e.g. timing and promotions we can naturally pay hammerwise more than the real value of Axes is.
Honestly, I like the idea of a worker. They're very valuable, so we would have to give plako/broker the copper for about 10 turns.
What about selling the copper? We'll have sailing soonish so I guess we could trade it e.g. in ~6-7 turns from now so that we could produce few axes of our own. Again we could pay with troops/workers or maybe moving our settling position in the south couple of tiles to east so that our borders wouldn't be that close to each other.
Please let us know, if you're intrested in some of these options.
Sincerely,
plako
I would send a response, but plako is asking for copper/axes in exchange for ~workers.
What do you think? It could certainly be advantageous to get a worker or so from copper.
Of course, we have to get the cities connected somehow. Right now our worker can finish the connection in about 7 turns if he does it by himself (I assume the tile he's on is NOT preroaded in any way of course). If our other worker (near city #3) moves over to help, then we can get copper connected to the capital very soon.
Looks like if we're going to do this, we shoudl renegotiate the NAP with Dantski.
Ideas, Nakor? I am holding off on official decisions until we agree.
My proposal:
We provide:
-Copper for 12 turns
-Move our planned "production" city 1 tile west so that it gives them more cultural space. Unfortunately this nerfs our production. We really don't have a good production site, other than the capital, of course. If this city goes 1W it should borrow tiles from Rolan to be a production city while Rolan works cottages.
They provide:
-1 worker
The worker should probably get the horses connected ASAP.
