The choices in the playoffs inform our predicted champ game contenders and we choose win/run/dead from our own projected champ game.

play off round leaders picks score double what the first round did, champ game picks score 4x. We'd have to predict the whole set before the first playoff game though, newcomers welcome until the first playoff is revealed. I can help record predictions if Sullla is (understandably) maxed for this project.

It's an interesting idea, but it would require everyone to submit four sets of predictions at once, without seeing the map for each game, and it would lock anyone out from joining the prediction contest after that point. It would also give everyone nothing to do or talk about for the next two weeks while I put the games together (I certainly don't have the playoffs games ready to go right now!) This was the main reason why we've been doing these games one at a time, so that the focus would be on the current game instead of people looking ahead to some future match and drawing away attention.

Why don't we do things this way: we keep the current format but also allow everyone to pick their overall champion and runner up at the beginning of the playoffs, once we have the bracket set. That lets us keep Ceiliazul's main idea without running into some of the logistical problems which would come from picking every category in four games ahead of time. How does that sound as an effective compromise?

yep :-) as long as the champ game picks are worth more so a lot of people still can win.

Buddhism and Hinduism will be split between India and Korea, leading to conflict. Bismarck will enter the war on Korea's side and India will be quickly overrun. In the west, Churchill will put up a better fight against Mao and Hannibal, thanks to Protective and a stronger capital, but he will be the second to go. By the midgame, borders will be relatively stable. Wang Kon and Cyrus won't declare war at pleased, so they'll be content with their mediocre land and won't bother their neighbors. Hannibal won't declare at pleased, either, but with his temperate start he'll race ahead in technology. His might be the first major Confucian empire. A series of inconclusive wars will keep Mao and Bismarck distracted, allowing Hannibal to build his spaceship unopposed. Hannibal, Mao, Bismarck and one of Cyrus and Wang Kon will survive to see the launch.

Bismarck will blick off and develop in a sizable chunk of land. India and Korea will both get too little land, and they will not know what to do about it - so they'll be doomed to eventual failure.

China will fight the English, much blood will be spilled, but Carthage will backstab England and seize most of the prize.

For sure, Hannibal and Bismark are going to war! Either one of 'em should win. And either Churchill or Asoka will end up dying: Churchill due to a poor economy, and Asoka because of peace. There will probably only be 2 guys left at the end: Hannibal and Bismark... one will win a Domination somewhere in the modern era.

But what do I know? I've only known the game for a week! :P
