On a more serious note - a very exciting write-up! What a ridiculously late finish, I don't think anyone saw that coming. Mao definitely deserved the win, though he probably won't last long in the next round if he takes that long to get his economy up and running again. He was somewhat lucky this game dragged out as long as it did.

Checking my earlier prediction:

Almost everything else wrong, but at least I got Cyrus right. For entirely the wrong reason, but still. lol

Also, I did pick Hannibal to die, though I got him one place out of order. And I never would have picked the crazy way it actually happened.

I think the third place players in the second half of these groups were much more value (game seven obviously excluded) than in the early half. Washington being right up there, and then Frederick and Asoka both battling really well from tight cramped quarters.

Hopefully Asoka can pull through as a wildcard as reward for the incredible diplomacy and coming within 4 turns of winning

What a crazy game, but why the Turn 433 finish? I mean the game before that had a lot of wars as well, did this one have more? Or was it just due to the fact, that no real winners emerged until T150? Everybody sunk a lot of effort into everlasting wars, that didn't bring any gain, was that it?

Curious to see if anyone got even close to that Turn number.

It sure would have, especially since Hammurabi wasn't playing in this game. wink

I would suggest that Asoka be a lock to the wildcard, since from what I remember he was the closest third place player to winning a game.
