There's a Hut in my sights for next turn!! jive

And over on the other side of things, last turn Jowy was able to see my capital from the forest diagonally from my city and this turn he ends up next to a lion. Which will attack him and he'll gain some nice experience for his scout. Most likely enough to get him a Woodsman promotion.

I also finished my first pasture on the Pigs. Next I work on the Sheep.

So just my luck, the stupid hut gave me another crappy gold. And only 29 this time. So 4 huts, 3 of which were gold and 1 that was a map. Oh well. frown

Well, happy day today in the realm of Civ....I haz Copper!!! And right in a spot where either my capital or the next city I'm planning to settle will be able to use it. I debated back and forth on what to research next and finally decided on Fishing. Probably not the best of choices, but I decided I need work boats (and sooner, rather than later having galleys) to go exploring and find neighbors and maybe even get another hut before other people can get to them, although unlikely.

On the bad news of the day, my wife got rear ended (and pushed into the car in front of her) tonight so we will need to be obtaining a new car. frown
She, at least, is ok and will just be sore for the next few days.

Ouch, sorry to hear that.
cooper in that spot is great news as you can have an improved tile when setle the city.

Also, forgot to mention that I can see where Jowy's copper is. It's to the far north of where he settled his capital. So likely he'll put his second city within range of grabbing that. But because of this, it gives me an opportunity to have strong military units out quicker than him to maybe try for a rush....which I'm still trying to decide if I should do. Never done one before.
I'll likely decide once I have my second city founded and have a better idea of what I might want to do.

Busy week, so only just getting to doing an update.
So I had settled Asylum last turn and started on my Gems mine. That city is making a Work Boat first, and most likely a second work boat right after that to go exploring. And probably a Barracks after that both to be ready for making military and also to get culture since I just noticed/remembered that I get +1 culture from Barracks. So my quandary for a bit of trying to decide when to research Mysticism to get Monuments for expanding the borders of Asylum is no longer as much a concern.

I also noticed that Jowy has a couple warriors outside his borders, sorta heading my way. So I whipped out the Axe I was working on (was going to switch to Worker since I was a Pop 4) to have him out immediately just in case he decides to try something. Will need to decide if I want to regrow back to 4 before doing the Worker or just do the worker while at Pop 3. Probably best to do the worker now, since it'd get the 15 beakers of overflow from the whipping.

Also had started Agriculture last turn, but decided to switch to Pottery this turn since I decided I want to get my Cottages going at the capital before I bother with the Wheat. Asylum will have the Clams and Gems mine (and could also use the Copper mine) for awhile until it fully needs the wheat farm. Please if I'm going to utilize whipping, I really need to get some Granaries.

Two other minor things of note. I'm outpacing Jowy in espionage, so that means he has met someone else awhile back. Either his corner continues elsewhere (which I doubt since he's also keeping his scout and his warriors on this side of his city) or he met someone across the water. There's no way his scout wouldn't still be exploring if we weren't stuck on a small island. So the person he met must have been something visible across the water.

Also, his city just hit the Top 5 list with 5 Population. He hasn't revolted to Slavery yet, so that could explain why he's grown so high. So either he hasn't gotten BW yet, or just didn't revolt yet. Also means he likely hasn't made his first settler yet...but with that kind of food output to grow that much, I'm sure his first settler will come out rather quickly.

So last turn Jowy revolted to Slavery, so that means he's gotten his Bronze Working and knows where his Copper is. I'll likely send a unit over that way (probably my Axeman) to keep an eye out for when he goes to settle it. Or even better...maybe have my axe over there to cause him grief such that he can't settle easily...if I can get the axe over there in time, which is doubtful.

Next turn I'll have my next worker and the work boat to net the crabs. I'll build another work boat right after that one to use for exploring and meeting people. And in 3 turns I'll have Pottery so then the cities will each build themselves a Granary before I switch over to something else.

So my exploratory Axe is making it's way through the jungle towards Jowy. Currently chasing his Scout. His Warriors seem to have returned home. Probably in fear of the axe, I guess. With any luck he hasn't already gotten horses hooked up to send a chariot at me. I have another Axe that will be built in 4 turns as backup anyway. If a Chariot does pop up and kill the axe, I'll quickly switch to a Spear for the necessary defenses. I'd be able to get it whipped out before any chariot could reach me.
Next turn Asylum grows and the second workboat will be done a couple turns after that. Hopefully I can meet more people shortly thereafter. I also get Pottery next turn, and both Workers will move onto a river grassland to make my first Cottage.
If I happen to be able to walk right up to Jowy's borders without seeing anything that looks like it could kill my Axe, I may just attempt a declaration of war and cause him some grief. Otherwise I'll just station him near Jowy's copper to keep him from settling and hooking that up while I make some more military to send over there. If I do this, I think it'll be my first time ever attempting an early rush.
The distance between our cities is what concerns me most, as it'll put a massive blow against my economy in maintenance. Hopefully I can get things built up fast enough to recover before I go broke.
