Sullla, if you are really bored and want to prove a point, you could swap Mansa and Alexander on the map, run the game again and see what happens :P

Man, I'm still kicking myself for picking Huayna to place in the final 6 (hell, I even picked him to win!). My predictions have been correct otherwise.

Looks like I'm out
Really unfortunate Lincoln and Mao ended up close to each other, but I don't think anything could have stopped Mansa from becoming the favourite with that geography. It's not the matter of territory but how vulnerable he was to aggressive attack; left to his own devices, he was very likely to win as already written in the post-map introductions.

It would be interesting to know how much happiness each leader had after the landgrab.

Well, I completely failed there. Ten points (I think it's 5 for withing 5 turns, not quite sure though). Three turns away.
Okay Mansa, I'll take Printing Press for Liberalism. Now where did I put my cannons?

Damn, Mao, you were so close to giving me winner and runner up!

Meh, disappointing game. Mao deserved to get 2nd place here, not Elizabeth

I think I disagree with you, Yell0w. Mao did play well, conquering vast amounts of land, but dug his own grave with his civics choices. Elizabeth expanded to a good size, if in an unusual configuration, teched well, shrugged off her neighbour's attack, and overwhelmed him at an opportune time (much faster than Mao did his). Elizabeth played a textbook strong game, whereas Mao did some things well (-ish) but failed abysmally at others. Mao deserved his third-place finish.

Hey I finally nailed the winner and runner up for once!
Definitely wasn't expecting that particular result though.

A matter of perspective.
I felt like Mao just got declared on quite often, fighting a two front war for a little while and came out ahead, while Elizabeth was left alone, except Qin of course, but he attacked with outdated units and was repelled immediately. Mao did not switch to emancipation, true. But on the other hand he was unable to do anything vs. the Statue of Zeus thingy, which seams to me, is a little bit cheesy considering he would have taken 2nd place for sure, just by signing peace with Lincoln. I don't know if this wonder is intended to make AI wars impossible.
Anyways I just felt cheated out of getting Mansa and Mao right, and I'd really rather have seen Mao in the Championships than Elizabeth.
As always great write up Sullla, thanks a lot for this fun tournament.
