I think he has been assassinated and replaced with Lord Parkin.
Surprise! Turns out I'm a girl!

Rejoice, my peoples! We're bear-safe! Also, incoming third city at a reasonable clip. The sandbox tech times are going to be all whack, it's more expensive but we're gaining known tech beakers.

A third contact made himself known today, actually while I played; hey there Ox. What a nasty warrior you have there in an inconvenient place.

Caution is just such a cripplingly slow thing. I really, really, really want circumnavigation though.

How does a farmer's gambit nation scout? By settling cities! Still, Augusta is even better; that deer means poor little Germanica can take the corn a lot more of the time. Also, damn I need Animal Husbandry.

I'm confused by one thing, though; anyone know why Augusta isn't getting a trade route? My sims showed I had it with this one road. I'm a touch baffled, to be honest...and I need the commerce.

Although considering half my rivals are Creative, this isn't a bad GNP. I do believe I'm first to three cities here. Workers not shown...pretty sure I'm behind on that count.

Here's the Lands of the Legion, circa 2480 BC (t38). Purty, ain't it?

No idea on the trade route, but it must be something to do with that river leaving your borders for zero tiles...

The trade connection symbol is even there in your first screenshot and the resources are available... no idea, maybe the route will pop up magically next turn?

correct. before sailing you cannot get trade routes over rivers that are not surrounded on both sides by your culture.

Ah, did you finish the road this turn, after settling the city? Your trade routes get recalculated at eot or when you settle so you can console yourself that you'll either get that 1 gpt next turn or you'll only be losing out on 1gpt. alright

Not sure why the deer and wheat are showing up mind you...

Yep, that's a check; because I settled then finished roading, that's one gold gone forever. Bummer. frown

So rechecking in the sandbox led to one thing and another and I managed to land a Turn 57 Oracle playing very sloppy indeed, I'm pretty sure with known tech bonii I'll be able to hit Turn 56. Also, the empire is looking very pretty, if extremely leftward-biased.

About to slam out two more settlers lickey-split as well. Colossus due turn 68 without straining.
