axes and spears DO help with the barbs that have colored loincloths... im happy the RB meta has moved somewhat away from warrior-only expansion plans.
[spoilers] Pax Commodorica: Pharaoh of Rome

I aim to evolve when I can. Sometimes it's a touch maladaptive, though...I really ought to be whipping a little more I think. I'm committed now to maintaining these beakers for another turn at least, however...can't afford to whip, would lose a turn on Polytheism. And losing Hinduism by a turn would just be embarrassing.
I won't know if I was in a race for Magellan's until the game is over, but I'm sure glad I won it. During the next three turns Balboa the Explorer here ought to be able to investigate this little island(*) before shuffling over to the straights. The pigs and lake are interesting; a very nice city can be built north of Germanica along that isthmus. *Assumed island from fog-shape. Intercontinental trade routes are your friend!

Wang Kon was on the list for a good reason, and as it is I want to see if/where Hinduism lands and how the Oracle shakes out soon, so I can expedite the Colossus.

This is just a lovely archipelago; lots and lots of coast for Colossus boosting, decent hammers, shares with land food. The Next Rex is going to be "make an island nation".

Bugger that, they're 2,000 years early! They aren't supposed to sack Rome for quite a while yet.
Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon (May 15th, 2014, 13:15)spacetyrantxenu Wrote: Bugger that, they're 2,000 years early! Well, Augusta being bigger worked out right; Hinduism founded here, we're about to pop borders for those lovely deer and cows; not only that, a mere twenty turns hence we'll also grab the sheep for a southern lake city. Um, production and culture resolve before barbs move, right? I really really really really really really really really really hope so. Pindicator just settled his fourth city! Named it Compy! It's in my lake. Sailing just got slotted in a little higher on the ever-competing priority list. I'm fine with the city, note, but I want that pig/fish/clam isle, at least. Okay, playing fast and loose and all, nice a prepared to settle my own fourth city next turn, with seafood hooked immediately. Barbs would cause a delay, but we can cover if we must. All this better not delay my Oracle! Whew this is a tight turn.

But your warrior has fortify and 25% city defense and 20% v barb, right? I know you've been known to lose some important warrior combats in the past () but it should be north of 90% to hold the city regardless... right? |
